BEAUTYTHINGS

that don't exactly make men attractive

I am incredibly blessed with a man who finds beauty quite important. He understands my collection of beauty products, he gets annoyed when the brush is lost again, and he doesn't mind waiting a bit longer for me when I'm still in front of the mirror and we actually have a dreadful rush. But hey, it can also go too far. That's not the case for me, but I can't imagine if the roles were reversed.

It also became clear when we discussed it in our Amayzine app group Seriously. May asked about things that men really shouldn't wear anymore, and the app was on fire in no time. When I then asked for beautywise answers, quite a few tips came through. So here are a few things that we (I tried to keep us anonymous but that didn't work) think are really no longer acceptable. Men, take note. It's allowed.

Mustache

We understand that it's linked to a good cause in November and that's why men keep their mustaches, but by December 1st it really needs to go immediately. A little beard, we can live with that, but a mustache is just really a step too far. They often just look like failed styles that are supposed to give a mafia look (read: tough, exciting, and unattainable), but are actually just very dirty and sneaky.

Davidoff Cool Water

Yes, we really do find this one very nice, secretly, and yes, it was also my first fragrance so I have warm memories of it. But honestly, I'm ten years older now and so it can't be anymore. This also applies to men. Grow up and choose a fragrance that truly represents you. CHANEL, Dior, Bvlgari… I'm just saying something here.

Men who cut their nails

We understand that this needs to happen. But don't do it in our presence and don't mention it either. Just do it when we women are not home and clean up the leftovers too. It really doesn't make you sexier or more masculine. Oh, and I won't waste too many words on painting them. Yes, it exists, men who paint their nails.

Unibrow

Men already start whining at the sight of a tweezer, but sometimes it's just necessary. Bert may have been nice and funny, but not everyone is, and a unibrow automatically makes you five years older. So it's a bit painful, but grab the tweezers, pull some hairs away, and it looks so much fresher.

Too many creams

Applying is important. I think so too. Also for a man. But three creams are enough. It's just not very sexy if a man has a whole legion of beauty products on the bathroom shelf. Even worse; that he knows the ingredients by heart and can list what each one is for. Day cream, night cream, and aftershave seem more than sufficient to us.

Hair mask

Another thing. A hair mask. For women, of course, incredibly important and if you're a man with a long ponytail, it's also quite a must. But let's be honest that about 80% of the men have short hair and then a hair mask is really not necessary. A bit of conditioner from our bottle is enough.

blow-drying hair

Here in the Amayzine app group, opinions are divided on this. I am actually a proponent of blow-drying hair for men because it just looks better, but there are also fervent opponents. Choose your battle.
