Flying away with easyJet
You probably haven't missed it, but today is Blue Monday. The most depressing day of the year. And if you look outside, that seems to be true. The Amayzine HQ seems to have risen and is hanging in the cloud cover, it's so foggy. The undersigned is having a particularly hard time with it since I was in a sweltering Rio just last week, with sunny beaches and cold caipirinhas. The only remedy for homesickness for vacation is: dreaming about a new vacation. So good news that easyJet has a whole list of new destinations on the radar for 2015 and I’m happy to introduce them to you.
Oh by the way, for the cynics, this is not a paid post, in case you were wondering. We just love to share good news with you.
Toulouse
From March 29, you can hop on a flight from Amsterdam to Toulouse, a city in the south of France. Drink coffee and wine at the Place du Capitole, grab some delicious fresh food at one of the many farmer markets, marvel at the Cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Toulouse, bike (or run) along the Canal du Midi and feed the birds in Jardin des Plantes. And of course, eat and drink to your heart's content, you are in France!
Nice
Jet's favorite destination so that's why I let her take the floor. Jet, why should we go to Nice and what should we do there? “Nice is the city-beach combination, that alone is reason enough to go there. Alternating lounging on the beach with shopping in the city. You must take a day trip to Monaco, just to see what bizarre situations are happening there. What you definitely have to eat in Nice is Socca, a kind of healthy crepe, which you eat with a glass of wine or a beer. Already jealous of those who are going, can I come along?”
Venice
Venice is one of those cities you just have to visit once in your life. With a water taxi from the airport to your hotel, a ride in an outrageously expensive gondola (but it’s just part of the experience) and having a cup of coffee at St. Mark's Square. Where you then pay 16 euros. PER cup. No joke. But, it’s just part of the experience. Just ask George Clooney, who married his Amal there and has a lavish house there. Who knows, you might even get to stay with them for a night, saving on costs.
Olbia
To be honest, I had to look this one up. But luckily Google could tell me that this is a city in Sardinia, in Italy. And look, you’ve almost got me on board because everything that comes from Italy is good news. Olbia is a port town so what you’re definitely going to do here is eat a lot of fresh fish, preferably with white wine. Rent a scooter and zip around Sardinia, stopping at beautiful views, nice beaches, and small villages. So romantic.
Dubrovnik
Yep, my topographical knowledge stopped here again, but Dubrovnik is a port city in Dalmatia, Croatia. This city has a pretty cool nickname as it goes by “Pearl of the Adriatic Sea” and let’s be honest, we definitely want to celebrate a vacation there. A little Google Image search confirms that idea, I want to go to Dubrovnik. Now and immediately.
