WHERE THE F IS THAT FAO SCHWARZ?

– How Doutzen May helped out of trouble –

Look, it's all fun and nice that fashion week in New York, but in the end, it all comes down to one thing. Three solid gifts from FAO Schwarz. FAO Schwarz is a household name in New York. A toy paradise where you can find everything you can think of and more.

Do you remember that shoot with Doutzen and her family in New York? With that big giraffe and other wild animals in the apartment? They come from FAO.

Before my departure, I had already received clear instructions. The first mantra that was drilled into me by my middle girl was: clothes are NOT gifts and the other: the house can only be re-entered with at least three packages in a bag from FAO Schwarz. And whether I could also say hello to Alex the Lion (FAO Schwarz is located near the New York zoo in Central Park which served as inspiration for the Disney movie Madagascar) while I was there.

Being obedient, I decided to run my first lap (twice obedient) but immediately head towards Central Park to do some orienting window shopping.

So I could strike well-prepared afterwards. FAO was basking in the fresh morning sun. This was our moment. Until... I got closer. Did I see cardboard on the windows? And did I see pipes sticking out of ceilings? What the f was going on here? What should I do now?

I decided to calmly run back and come up with a plan. Who lives in New York and knows everything about children and toys and has good taste? Exactly; Doutzen. Quickly sent an email to Sarah Keller, Doutzen's agent. Whether she had time for a cozy coffee à deux but of course mainly to discuss my problem, because without a gift, the Haarlem gate remains closed on Thursday.

Although Sarah had six girls to manage during this fashion week and was therefore quite busy, she saw the importance of the problem and acted quickly. Doutzen suggested the Toys ‘R’ Us at Times Square and a cool little shop in SoHo that I will check out this afternoon. According to the girls, clothes are not a gift, but if it comes from ‘the mother of Phyllon’, they will surely be happy with it. I'll keep you updated.
