‘In the Lazio region near the town of Collevecchio, where we spent our vacations as a family for ten years, there is a restaurant called La Vecchia Quercia (which means ‘the old oak’). There we ate pizzas as big as wagon wheels. As a child they made a huge impression on me. We always sat outside under the tree. Lots of Italians, lots of noise… Beautiful!’

‘In the past, I was secretly a bit in love with newsreader Sacha de Boer. Now I know from a reliable source that she loves good food and she also takes beautiful photos. Enough to talk about, then.’

‘Preferably a bit towards the back so I can look around a lot. I love to observe. From a waiter dropping a plate to a couple that clearly has nothing more to say to each other.’

‘Antipasti. So again Italian.’

‘I always pretend. However, two years ago I took a trip through the Burgundy region in France with my father. That was very special and I learned a lot from it. Still, I always get the giggles when people are very busy with wine in a restaurant. With that tasting and all. I sometimes try to imitate that show for fun.’

‘A starter. Often the first thing you eat is the tastiest. I'm not really into desserts. Never have been. A good espresso is a dessert for me. Again Italian!’

‘Last summer I started a new little company called Wundernacht. With Wundernacht we organize surprise evenings in Amsterdam and Utrecht. When booking a Wundernacht, you have no idea what awaits you. On the day itself, around 5:00 PM, you receive a text message with your first location. From that moment on, your evening has begun. Throughout the evening, you are informed through short notes. Each evening includes a dinner and an event. Recently, two of our clients told us that they felt like tourists in their own city after their Wundernacht. I thought that was a nice compliment.’
