SPORT AND MAKE-UP

not the most pleasant and fresh combination

I really understand that you want to wear the gym the cutest outfit and have your hair sport-proof so you don't have to look at such a sweaty type in the mirror. However, you can better skip the make-up. You'll get that blush naturally if you just stay a bit active, and some extra highlighters will do their job (sweat, yes). But hiding yourself under a layer of foundation or putting on layers of lipstick to hide the redness makes no sense at all.

There has been research showing that wearing make-up during a workout is actually very harmful. Sweat and bacteria that come out during intense exercise can't escape and remain trapped under those layers of make-up. That's not very pleasant, as it can clog your skin and greatly increase the chances of large pores, huge blackheads, and a dull complexion. And it gets worse. It is even claimed that wearing make-up while exercising can cause a toxic explosion. Your skin needs to breathe, but wearing make-up creates a barrier that pushes all those toxins back into the skin.

Make-up tips that do work during the workout

Okay. It's clear. Preferably as naked as possible to the gym and clean well before and after the workout. A bit tricky, right?

– Don't use too many products at once, which will ultimately clog your entire face under a beauty look. So go for either a light cream or touch up your eyebrows or use a balm on your lips.

– A foundation is not very handy. In general, a liquid, thin foundation is not a success, because with a bit of warmth it just drips off your face. Choose a BB cream. It's light and doesn't have an extremely covering effect on the skin. By the way, it's best to go for a water-based BB cream. That's extremely sport-proof.

– Don't use products with an oily substance. Sweat, oil: you can imagine how you're going to look.

Waterproof products are only used on and around the eyes. So no waterproof foundation or blush, because I've just tried to talk you out of that. A waterproof mascara is of course not a bad idea, because you don't want running eyes, and if you still want some contour in your face, you can enhance your eyebrows with a waterproof pencil or gel.
