The 5 golden rules for the wedding scent
Bridezilla or not, as a bride you want – it seems to me – that your wedding is perfect down to the last detail. You think about a fitting invitation, about the dress (duh), a suitable makeup look, flowers and who knows what else. But why do women always choose the most standard perfume that smells like roses? Isn’t it fun to choose a crazy scent that suits you, that fits the day and that will create a lifelong memory? Because yes, a scent indeed creates a memory (just think of grandma's scent, you definitely recognize that). And I think you want to be etched in everyone's memory. With your friends, with your love... So it’s not superfluous to add that search to your list.
What to do? Here are the 5 rules to find the perfect scent. Nothing is mandatory, everything is allowed. But it’s fun to pay a little extra attention to it on your wedding! And you can be sure that no one will forget that scent of yours. And certainly not the day.
1. Match your scent with the feeling of the day
Are you going for a ballroom wedding in an old castle? Maybe a warmer and spicier perfume is quite fitting. It gives just a bit more warmth and presence, and this way you really embrace the location. Are you having a festival wedding in a flower garden? Then maybe a more floral scent belongs there too. So take a look at the location and the theme of your day. You probably have an idea of what you want to convey with that day, so try to translate that into a scent.
2. Look at the season
The season in which you marry is also quite important. In every category (whether you’re looking at flowers, the sensual corner, or searching in aquatic scents) there are very warm scents and some fresher examples. If you marry in winter, a warmer scent is nice, but in summer I can imagine you really want something fresh and refined.
3. Start layering
If you really want something very special for yourself, you can also choose to combine multiple scents. For example, look at Jo Malone. There you can really find something very special, and they combine scents that suit you and the moment together. They are really amazing at that, and it results in intensely beautiful and unique combinations. Oh, and you can be assured that you are a very unique bride. So you don’t have to worry that one of your guests will wear the same scent.
4. What will he wear?
This is also quite an important question. What scent does he wear?? It shouldn’t give a totally different feeling. Now you certainly don’t have to wear exactly the same thing, my goodness, no way, but the scents should complement each other. Although it seems logical to me that you choose your scent first and then he gets his turn.
5. Look at your bridal bouquet
It’s not so strange to adjust your scent to your bridal bouquet. For example, you can look at your bouquet, choose a flower and select that as the main ingredient. A good perfumer will definitely know which scents match that and which ones you should have.
