The basics of makeup

WITH THESE TOOLS YOU JUST BECOME THE MOST BEAUTIFUL

Sometimes I'm definitely not the most handy with makeup. I can really conjure up a good look on my nose, but I don't need a huge army of brushes for that. No, I often do it (and I'm sure many makeup artists are going to scold me for this) with my hands. Yes, yes, I know, unhygienic and less pretty, but those things are often so outrageously expensive that I often just leave it at that.

To keep the makeup artists on my good side, I dove into the world of brushes for a bit. What works well, what do you need it for, and with which brush do you make your makeup look the best? Well, welcome to the wonderful world of brushes, because after reading this piece, you'll never want to do it any other way.

Foundation brush or sponge

Let's start right away with the basics. Because if that's not applied well, you might as well shake the rest of your makeup off. A foundation brush is always a bit round in shape, but flat. The bristles are extremely soft so that the foundation can be evenly distributed, even around the nose and mouth. What I just discovered is the sponge in the shape of an egg. It looks really incredibly exciting, but works so well, because you can really get every spot on your face well into the foundation without getting those ugly stripes or spots.

Powder brush

A powder brush should really be as big as possible. The idea is to apply a transparent layer to the skin and definitely not to make it visible. The bigger, the better, because then it covers the area in large strokes and becomes beautifully even.

Highlighting

These brushes look quite technical, but they are really incredibly handy. They curve in a half arc, allowing you to apply highlighters or bronzers best, without it accumulating in one spot. It should look as natural as possible. Also handy about this brush is that it never becomes too much. Beautifully balanced.

Cheeks

For blush, you really need the perfect brush. Apple cheeks are nice, but they also look a bit unnatural. With a good blush, you prevent strange streaks and ensure that the color of the blush blends beautifully with the skin. A good blush brush is not too big and has a sort of rounded shape.

Eye brushes

Well, here you can go wild. There are so many different brushes to touch up your eye makeup. A small brush always works very well. With this, you can make small movements and blend very well. And of course, an eyeliner brush. Just practice a bit, and then the perfect wing is within reach.

Eyebrow

Perhaps the most important for your entire look: your brows. With a brush that is slanted, you can draw hairs very precisely. The full eyebrow is thus in the making. A spoolie is also not a luxury. With it, you tame those full eyebrows into a nice shape.

Extra tips

Cleaning: Hardly anyone does it, but it is important. Clean your brushes often. Brushes get dirty too, makeup gets stuck in them, and that causes impurities on your face. Moreover, you apply makeup best with a clean brush to achieve an even effect.

Good buy: Brushes are just a bit more expensive. This is often because they are made from the very best hair that is soft on your skin and therefore does not lead to irritation. Additionally, they apply makeup the best and are so incredibly soft that you'll never want anything else. Plus, they last a very long time. So yes, that costs some money. But your skin is worth it, right?
