WHY LIVING SMALL IS ACTUALLY MUCH MORE FUN THAN LIVING LARGE
So put that villa back on the market. Much more convenient.
I am therefore really fond of the seventy square meters where I currently live. Aside from the fact that my house is indeed for sale and we do want to live a little bigger, I am just genuinely happy in our apartment. And I have completely cut myself off from Funda (I give myself a pat on the back every day for not doing this) so that I don't dramatically fall in love with a house while it's sold a week later. Until the time I move houses, I have decided to embrace our lovely apartment even more. No problem, because it is a nice little house, and now I can enjoy it even more.
Parties
I notice it at parties at friends' larger houses. A group disappears into the garden, a group settles in the kitchen to ensure they get snacks and drinks that come by, a group floats around the house and is actually always unfindable, and a group doesn't move from their spot at all. Well, none of that has ever happened at our house parties. It's super manageable, you can't avoid each other, and you actually talk to each other as a standard. Avoiding people is quite difficult, but the party itself is a big, cozy, and personal event.
Tidy character
I have really heard the comment very often that even in a large house you still run out of space to store things. The larger the spaces, the more clutter you bring into the house. Totally true in my opinion. In our house, we are actually very clever at creating storage spaces (and I'm not talking about the space under the bed or at the back of the wardrobe). Moreover, you also become much more selective about what you bring into the house. Hold on to that feeling when you move to a larger house. Much nicer.
Practical
Everything is much closer together. Need to grab something from the kitchen? Fine. Two steps and the fridge is open. I work in the study and my boyfriend is watching TV in the living room? Also perfectly fine, because we can still have conversations without having to raise our voices. And at night to the bathroom? Hopsa, I roll out of bed and I'm actually already there. So much nicer than going up and down stairs every time.
More creative in arranging spaces
You are incredibly creative in the arrangement of different spaces. All the space you have is arranged in a very good and smart way, so you don't waste space at all. Or actually: the space even seems a little bigger because of it. Smart.
The perfect accessories
You are very smart in choosing the right accessories. Normally, you wouldn't quickly choose a large plant (awkward, over the top), but in a smaller house, it really works wonders for the looks.
