Body & Mind

Are you bathing in size 36

Now that it is already dark at six o'clock and it is getting colder outside with the day, I am getting less and less inclined to take a walk after work. to catch that bus. Your colleague with size 36 may naturally be much more active without spending hours in the gym.. I would prefer to immediately take off my tight jeans and itchy wool sweater to crawl into the heating or under the shower as quickly as possible. Well, and what would be a real treat is to immerse myself in a bath. But unfortunately, something about living in Amsterdam and being happy with the garden that we do have. Anyway, if I did have that bath, I would burn just as many calories in an hour as with my round at Vondel which I would rather skip in this cold weather. Say whut?

Dr. Steven Faulkner, affiliated with Loughborough University, conducted a study on the number of calories you can burn with half an hour of bathing. And what turned out? With a little bathing, we burn the same number of calories as with half an hour of walking..

For the study, fourteen men were examined, divided into two groups. Group one soaked in a warm bath of forty degrees for an hour, while the other group trained for an hour on a stationary bike. In both groups, the body temperature rose by exactly one degree. Furthermore, the men's blood sugar levels were monitored, as well as how many calories were burned with the activities.

The athletes scored significantly higher on calories than the group that had been in the bath. Nevertheless, the outcome for the bathers was remarkable. With an hour of doing nothing, around 150 calories were burned, which is equivalent to half an hour of walking.

So let the bath fill up tonight. Netflixing has never been so good for the figure...
