House of Cards is coming to an end
It’s the end of the Frank Underwood era. After the news broke yesterday regarding Kevin Spacey and the accusation from actor Anthony Rapp that he was sexually assaulted by Kevin when he was fourteen, Media Rights Capital and Netflix have decided that the sixth season will be the very last. At least, TVLine indicates that this is a decision that was made several months ago, but still: season six will be the last and that is to be expected in early 2018.
Netflix and Media Rights Capital also released a statement yesterday regarding the news surrounding Kevin: ‘Media Rights Capital and Netflix are very shocked by the news about Kevin Spacey. Executives from both companies met this afternoon in Baltimore with our cast and crew to ensure that they feel safe and supported. As previously stated, Kevin Spacey is currently not working on set.’
And not only is House of Cards coming to an end, the production of another Netflix film, Gore, which the actor is also involved in, is being halted. The lifetime achievement award that Kevin was set to receive next month from the International Emmy Founders is also being withdrawn.
In short, House of Cards is stopping, Kevin can wave goodbye to his career (rightly so), but fortunately there are rumors that Gilmore Girls might still be coming back.
