Just a bit more about Coachella

And the power of the parties in Palm Springs

Weekend number one is already over. Time to catch a breather before the Coachella spam starts again in three days. I must say: it might be the most brilliant decision by the Coachella management ever to make it two weekends instead of just one. What a nice way to rake in some cash. Ka-ching. I assume that drinks and snacks there are just as ridiculously expensive as at the festivals in the Netherlands. Here you often pay almost three euros for just a glass of cola and almost ten bucks for a burger. Unbelievable.

Do you know what I perhaps find the funniest about scrolling through my Facebook and Instagram feed? That there are quite a few people I know who are there, but not really. As in: they don’t have a ticket for Coachella itself, but hop from one party to another in Palm Springs. I saw a picture of a high school friend of mine who suddenly appeared at a party with Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin. I immediately sent her a message, because hello, how cool is it that she is going to Coachella? She casually replies: ‘Babe, I don’t have a ticket, I’m just here for all the other parties.’ And by other parties, she means all the villas rented out by brands.

‘Babe, I don’t have a ticket, I’m just here for all the other parties.’

Take Revolve as an example. Revolve is an online clothing store known for often going to the world’s biggest bloggers (I’m talking about a Negin, an Aimee Song, Chiara Ferragni, etc.) to the most tropical destinations to promote the brands they sell. And once again, they managed to grab a lot of attention with their #RevolveFestival villa in Palm Springs. Do you have your Instagram open? Click on the hashtag for fun and just count how many celebrities and fashion people you come across. And, in terms of music, you also have nothing to complain about, because one celebrity after another comes to perform as a surprise.

Brands like Levi’s, American Express, Moschino, Victoria’s Secret (search #VSAngelOasis if you want to know how it went down) and Rachel Zoe are also not averse to a party and rent villas in Palm Springs. So a tip for next year: if you don’t have much left after your flight to Cali and money for your stay but still want to be ‘in the scene’? Go party here. Celebrity overload, surprise performances by artists, and an insane amount of festival fashion inspiration. See you next year!
