ELKE WIJNANDS

Everyone knows her: the colleague who can pull off practically anything and looks instantly model-proof. Elke is such a colleague. Through rain and shine, she rides her bike to the office. And even if she sometimes arrives looking like a completely drenched cat, she is still the coolest kitty at the office, that much is clear.

For a number of months now, she has been sitting across from me every day. And in that time, you get to know each other inside out. Each other's humor, flaws, and especially each other's quirks. For example, I know that she has the sweetest sneeze that exists in this universe. A ‘hastsjie’ so cute and soft that you can't help but laugh. That she loves to sing but can't carry a tune and finds that pretty funny herself. That she has a love/hate relationship with Drake. Oh, and in the mornings? When this cool kitty has startup problems, she can transform into a grumpy cat in a microsecond. That's also Elkie, and luckily we can laugh about it together.

And fashion-wise? Elke is the type who can rock a flared pants like no other with a galaxy bomber . A tomboy-ish style is her favorite, but occasionally she also creates open mouths by suddenly parading very girly in heels. On such days, I get quite a shock because then I suddenly come up to her waist, and that doesn't seem very collegial to me. What is she wearing today? A top from Stieglietz, pants from her all-time favorite Levi's, and a cute hummingbird jacket from Silvian Heach. Glasses on the face from Ace & Tate and Elke is totally handsome-proof again, just as I am used to from her.
