Nutella fudge brownies

Met een vleugje Halloween

At our editorial office, there is no lunch table without a huge jar of Nutella between the bowls of hummus and rolls of rice cakes. Many plates are filled at the end of the break with a cracker spread with a good dollop of Nutella and a pinch of sea salt (winning combo). But that mega jar of Nutella is also perfect for baking. When I say Nutella fudge brownies, your mouth starts watering, right? If you have a spooky party planned for tonight, go ahead and decorate. A Netflix night with your loved one? Then just stick your fork in right away. What are you waiting for? I mean: Nutella.

Brownie

  • 300 grams of dark chocolate
  • 300 grams of unsalted butter
  • 300 grams of fine granulated sugar
  • A teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • A generous pinch of salt
  • 150 grams of flour
  • 4 eggs (size L)

Fudge

  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 30 grams of butter
  • 200 grams of chopped dark chocolate
  • 300 grams of Nutella
  • For decoration
  • 6 biscuits (rectangular)
  • Dark chocolate (and a blender)
  • Optionally some melted chocolate and a piping bag
  1. Break the chocolate into small pieces and melt them in a bain-marie, together with the butter.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees, grease a baking pan of 20×30 cm and line it with baking paper.
  3. Let the chocolate cool and then mix it with the sugar, the pinch of salt, and the vanilla extract.
  4. Sift the flour and mix it into the chocolate mixture.
  5. Beat the eggs one by one into the chocolate mixture and fold until you get a smooth batter.
  6. Optionally mix in some extra chocolate pieces into the dough.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the baking pan and bake the brownies for 25 minutes. A good brownie should be gooey in the middle.

For the fudge

  1. Melt all the ingredients for the fudge in a bain-marie and stir everything together with a wooden spatula.
  2. Once everything is melted and mixed, pour the fudge over the cooled brownies.
  3. Place the cookies ‘standing’ over the cake (as if they are gravestones).
  4. Put some pieces of dark chocolate in the blender and grind finely. This is your ‘soil’ for on the cake.
  5. Place a mound of ground chocolate next to each cookie as if it is soil.

Of course, you can paint your gravestones with melted chocolate. This depends on your creative level... I would just go for it. It’s up to you!
