WHAT TO DO THIS WEEKEND

by Theo Bakana

Hi toppers. You made it, it's actually the first weekend of February and that calls for a drink. And especially: it's allowed to drink again. Now, I'm not going to forbid or impose anything on anyone, but the virtual pats on the back are welcome, you know, for getting through my alcohol-free month (minus one scheduled moment). Did you just drink in January? Hats off. Were you dry like me? That's perfectly fine too. One way or another: it's the weekend!

So time for W.I.N.E.

And where better to enjoy that this weekend than in the best wine bar in the Netherlands? Yes, actually nowhere. Recently that place VinVin in Utrecht opened, and there you can try 30 different wines by the glass. With a nice snack on the side, of course. I'm already getting excited at the thought. Who's up for a little wine tasting? Renske?

Then of course there can also be dancing

I'm already looking forward to chanting this during the Friday afternoon drinks or at the Sunday brunch. Oh, actually I don't care where, I'm in for it anyway. This weekend you can see me swinging at Thuishaven Wintercircus with Omar Souleyman. Yes, that's on Sunday, but it starts early, so that also means early to bed and Monday will just be fresh and fruity again. And if it does get a bit out of hand, you can just say you were supporting a good cause. Five euros of the ticket price goes to Doctors Without Borders in Syria. Did you hear that, Donald?

One day shop

This is a good one in case your wardrobe is in need of something new, and when isn't it? I've already wasted a large part of my income, but that's not what it's about right now. So if you're looking for something nice, new, and especially exclusive, then you should head here. This sale only takes place for one day at a very Instagrammable location on the Lauriergracht in Amsterdam. You'll find pearls of clothing from Paris, the cutest interior items, and they also have something for mister lovah lovah. And the name, it's so fitting: New Laundry.

High tea with Audrey

A few weeks ago I already told you about the new exhibition ‘To Audrey with Love’, which you can view at the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague. My hometown, 070 represent for all readers from Agga, waddap. Excuse me, that Haagsche blood crawls where it can't go. Now I've received new information today, namely that in addition to the exhibition in the museum, there is also a small collection in Hotel Des Indes to see. You definitely want to go there, because this is a magically beautiful spot in the capital. Think runner at the door and a bellboy welcoming you. And they serve the best high tea, which is now completely Audrey-themed. She often stayed at the hotel when she was in the Netherlands. Didn't know that, did you? Look, those are some fun facts. So instead of breakfast at Tiffany's, it's high tea at Des Indes. Can I then immediately show you the favorite coffee spot of our prime minister (there's photographic evidence).

Slurping oysters

Because this weekend could use a little extra booze, Elke tipped me the following. The Seafood Bar at the Spui in Amsterdam is hosting an oyster party. What should you think of? Music, gin and tonic, and oysters for a euro. Says enough, right? I'll let those slippery tongues pass me by; I'll be at the front of the G&T bar. High five there?

If this is all too busy for you, you can also just follow the steps from last weekend.

See you next week, and we'll close this week in a fitting way.

Cash me ousside, how bout dah?
