Why everyone is massively seeking love in 2018

And how

Are we all in agreement that 2017 was not exactly the most successful year when it comes to l'amour? Especially thanks to all these dreadful dating trends that suddenly popped up out of nowhere, it was, well, all quite mediocre, let's just say. So: new year, new strategy. You can always decide to date like a man, see if that brings you your true love, but a study by dating service Lexa.nl suggests that despite all the misery many singles experience on apps, they are still going to make full use of it.

70% of the singles in our country have decided that 2018 is going to be the year they meet their true love. Did you know there is even a Peak Day, linked to the number of registrations on dating services? From December 27, exactly after Christmas when people decided to be done with ‘lonely this Christmas’, until January 7, which is now officially known as the Peak Day with a significant increase in online dating activity.

7 out of 10 singles are therefore looking for love this year and online still seems to be the place to be for this, as it ranks number 1 in the top 5 places where the most searching occurs:

  •  Online (44%)
  • While going out (39%)
  • Through friends and acquaintances (38%)
  • Chance meeting (30%)
  • Through study or work (30%)

Would you rather avoid all the online happenings? I understand you, old-fashioned dating has something romantic about it and this is how you do it. Prefer to do everything just via your phone? That's fine too, because I have discovered what you should put in your bio to reel in all those matches.

Happy dating!
