The 5 festivals you don't want to miss this summer
I don't know about you, but I've already spoken to some friends here and there about festivals with the question: where are we going? Because of course, there will be some nice summer parties to attend, no discussion possible. For which parties exactly are tickets being bought?
Soenda
(Utrecht, May 19)
Soenda was one of my first festivals ever, I think, and since then I've actually been there every year. Nationally speaking, maybe one of the medium-sized events, but people from the region know: Soenda never disappoints.
Amsterdam Open Air
(Amsterdam, June 2 and 3)
If you're not here, you'll get instant FOMO from everything you see flying by on Insta, trust me. AOA (yes, that's what the insiders call it) is just the best, sorry. I can't think of a better argument. In total, more than 150 artists are heading to Gaasperpark and this year's line-up is delightful. Think: from Ronnie Flex to Kriss Kross Amsterdam and from Maya Jane Coles to Dave Clarke. If you witness a lifeless Kiek on Saturday; uh, sorry in advance.
Camp Moonrise
(Lake Bussloo, Veluwe, June 22 to 24)
We've been talking about it in the editorial office for weeks. Camp Moonrise is also referred to in the hallways as the Coachella of the Netherlands but just on our own Veluwe. And yes, my colleagues and I will be sleeping in a deluxe tent. With wifi. And good food. And quality wine. Did I already mention that I'm looking forward to this?
Milkshake
(Westerpark Amsterdam, July 28 and 29)
A big spectacle where everyone ‘can love without boxes and borders’. It's an indescribably free feeling that prevails, because it really doesn't matter how you show up and whether you're he, ho, bi, or tran. That makes Milkshake also the first truly liberal festival in the world. Milkshake Love Festival.
(Strijkviertel, Utrecht, September 1)
A festival that I've embraced in my heart since day 1. Every year when I walk onto the grounds, I feel a little flutter in my stomach. A kind of ‘I'm going on a trip’ feeling. Trust me, this is going to be fun.
