A new movie on Netflix with ‘our’ Michiel Huisman

He is becoming a bit of Dutch pride, isn't he, that Michiel Huisman. Of course Game of Thrones, just a small role next to Blake Lively, Haunting of Hill House (where season 2 will also be coming online soon); all no big deal. In between, he is actually doing another movie, which will be online on Netflix on July 31.
The movie is called The Red Sea Diving Resort and the inspiration for the film comes from extraordinary, true rescue missions. To be honest, I had never heard of it before, shame on me. It is an impressive story, so completely understandable that a movie is being made about it and all the less understandable that I had never heard of it before. A group of international agents (including Michiel) works together with Ethiopians in Sudan to smuggle refugees to Israel. Not just a handful, but thousands of refugees. In Ethiopia, a gigantic genocide is ongoing, where – according to a quote from Michiel – no one ‘gives a shit because it's in Africa’. Someone, the minister, decided to give a shit and send a group of agents there.
They do this via the – you guessed it – Red Sea Diving Resort, which is an abandoned holiday resort. The trailer can be checked out below and honestly: it looks impressive. By the way, he doesn't have the absolute lead role, that is reserved for Chris Evans. Quite a big name, yes.
I mentioned it briefly: Michiel is really not sitting still at all. The Red Sea Diving Resort is going to be an exciting movie if I can believe the trailer, so if that is totally not your cup of tea: no panic. He also has a lead role in a sweet Christmas movie that will be released on Netflix this fall, A Boy Called Christmas. I am definitely going to watch that (it's going to be a nice Christmas), but I am looking forward to this movie a bit more. Fortunately, July 31 is almost here.
