Chris Hemsworth and 5 other men that we nominate as James Bond

Chris Hemsworth

It really remains a thing, doesn't it, that James Bond. I used to not want to see anything of it (because action, stupid, violence, stupid, etc.), but since Daniel Craig became the one and only 007, I was completely on board. Probably has something to do with the fact that a Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan are not exactly my types. But anyway, I've now seen Casino Royale countless times, couldn't stop talking about Skyfall, and I think I'm knowledgeable enough to get involved in the next discussion: who will be the new James Bond?

It certainly seems that the upcoming film will really be Daniel Craig's last, so the speculation has long begun. And this morning I heard that someone has nominated themselves (which I always appreciate), and not just anyone. No, no, Thor himself. Yes, Chris Hemsworth sees himself as the next 007. He says about it: ‘I don’t think you’ll ever meet anyone who doesn’t want to try to be James Bond.’ He was already on my nomination list anyway, so this works out perfectly. In fact, he was even number 1 on my list. But if he’s too busy, I have five other candidates here who can also take on this role.

And before the diehard Bond fans come at me: the time when James Bond it really had to be British is long gone, you know. Just in case you missed the memo: Sean Connery is also Scottish. And Pierce Brosnan is from Ireland. So in 2019, my ideal James Bond can come from anywhere.

1. Tom Hardy

He does come from England, so that gives him a point with many. But I think this man can really play any role. I thought he was so good in The Revenant, but also in Mad Max, and if you’ve seen his role in Inception… That’s already a bit in the direction of James Bond. So as far as I’m concerned, he has the total 007 package. ‘The name is Bond. James Bond.’ Can you see him saying that?

2. Jason Momoa

Oh yes, please. A James Bond with long hair and a Hawaii vibe, I’m all for it. You might know him as the action hero Aquaman, but just imagine him as action hero James Bond. He is one of the few men I can’t picture in a suit, but he is currently my favorite from Hollywood. I would definitely feel safe with him, because wow, this man is huge.

3. Ryan Gosling

Oh well, why not. The world’s cutest pretty boy if you ask me. Going from La La Land to James Bond is quite a difference, but if the 007 Franchise really wants to attract many more female visitors, then this one is a good choice. I’m also curious how he would do as a badass secret agent. He definitely has the suave looks. With a shaken, not stirred Martini in hand.

4. Hugh Jackman

Oh yes, I can totally see this. Wolverine as James Bond. The looks, the figure, can wear a suit well… Maybe this is the shared number 1 along with Tom Hardy in terms of total package quality. And I think a James Bond with an Australian accent would also add a new dimension. A sexy dimension, that is.

5. Last but not least…

Well, this one couldn’t really be missed on this list: Idris Elba. He has of course been mentioned for years as the ultimate replacement for Daniel Craig, so there must be some truth to that. Although he said last month that he’s not going to do it after all. I was just getting used to the idea of this James Bond, but now everything seems to be up in the air again. If he does end up doing it: I’m in. I find him very smooth in every role and I see him as such a cool and collected 007.
