Panic, panic: when Facebook, Instagram AND WhatsApp don't work

Look, it's not exactly the emergency centre that pop out, but I think it does have more effect on the average person. On me at least. I refreshed Insta and Face (as we affectionately call them) all afternoon slash evening and tried to download gifs, images and videos into my group apps every so often. There was even a point where I got irritated by people who did try to upload. Because hello, we can't see that at all and you know there's a glitch, right? Yes, bit of an overreaction though, but it happened to me anyway.

What we know about the situation. The outage was worldwide, so we were not the only ones who felt pegged, but it seemed to be concentrated around the USA and Europe (I suspect we are big consumers of social media). The stupid part of the whole issue was actually that things were partially working. If everything blows out, at least you still know not to expect anything. Now it was a bit on good luck. Well an app, no fine image with a post on Facebook, well a picture on the feed, no Stories. I like and I don't like, but I have a hard time dealing with this. Among posts on Nu.nl, by the way, I saw that people did find each other, so through the day. A brother suddenly seemed like a nice guy, parents had dried up just fine and the loved one could also suddenly get along. How it came about? Maintenance work gone wrong, was the company's explanation. It wasn't exclusive on mobile, by the way, as things didn't give a hoot on desktop either.

But I can reassure you and myself: the glitch has been fixed. We can breathe, scroll and like again. And Facebook may handle some 22,000 user complaints, but then again, that's not our cup of tea.
