Workin’ Moms, Mindhunter, It and farewell to HTGAWM: Here are the Netflix news

netflix update, phone netflix app

So, here's a mega Netflix update on this Monday. No worries, this time it's not just a removal alert. No, this time mainly titles are being added, which is always welcome of course. Unfortunately, it has been announced that one of the favorite series will not get a new season anymore. How To Get Away With Murder is really ending after six seasons. Too bad. I kind of saw this coming, because that sixth season was already a bit of a question mark. In any case, it's nice that we (hopefully) get a good conclusion instead of a cliffhanger.

Now for the better news: the acquisitions. Oh yes. Horror film It has been added, so a night of scares can be scheduled. Just to be clear: This is the new version of It. If you haven't seen it yet, I do warn you in advance. The story is split into two parts, of which this is the first. The second will still come to theaters this year, but you understand that the first part ends with a cliffhanger. And get ready for a new phobia, if you don't already have fears of clowns. For me — and I guess half of the Netherlands — this is where my aversion to clowns began. Never got over it.

Also Workin’ Moms is coming back on July 25. Look, that's fortunately not too long to wait. Season 1 has been trending on Netflix since its release, and understandably so. Whether you're a mother or not, this series is really fun. I'm not a mother myself, but I hear from various sources that it's quite relatable for mothers. Not everything is rosy and moonshine, that kind of stuff. Sometimes coming out with some nice cynicism and especially a lot of complaining, I can already identify with that. Additionally, the first season also snagged an Emmy nomination in the ‘Best Comedy’ category. The second season was mainly a matter of time and not really a big question mark, BUT we are still very happy with it.

We're still hanging out with the mothers for a bit. The Australian mothers, or the Yummy Mummies, are also back on Netflix with the second season. To be honest: when I first heard the name ‘Yummy Mummies’, I was not exactly sold. Let's be real: that name is just completely terrible. It sounds really awful. My expectations were not very high, but I'm always willing to admit when I'm wrong. Here it is. This series is really fun and especially wonderfully hysterical. Those Australian mothers are funny, sometimes naive and a bit silly, but super supportive of each other and very positive. I always find that much more enjoyable to watch than the American reality series where everyone just tears each other down. Good news that the Aussies are back.

Another second season coming up, this time for Mindhunter. And it was about time, guys. The first season came out in November 2017 and yes, that is really a long time ago now. Season 2 is going to be — I assume — very exciting. Charles Manson will be featured and also the Atlanta Child Murders. The entire season will be available on Netflix on August 16.

So yes, you understand correctly: this will be a busy summer binge-watching month. As we speak, the sun is really hard to find, mainly it's cloudy and a sweater is on, which is also a good excuse to stay inside. With Netflix. Although a bit of sunshine here and there wouldn't be too bad, so I'm going to perform that sun dance right now.
