Yesss, The Princess Switch is getting a sequel

It may be Halloween today, but Christmas is more important and more fun. At least I think so. So that's why we're going to flash forward to the Christmas vibes today, because there's a really nice Christmas movie coming up. And just so you know: this is NOT one of the six Christmas movies that were announced earlier. were announced, although the main character, Vanessa Hudgens, is the same. She has now become a sort of Netflix mascot when it comes to Christmas movies. From High School Musical Netflix star to: great career.

Okay, so Vanessa Hudgens. Last year she played two characters in The Princess Switch, one of which was a princess (‘Lady’ Margaret, complete with ‘English’ accent) and the other a ‘regular’ girl (Stacy), who was a baker by profession. One thing led to another, it became a switch à la It Takes Two (you know, that old classic with a very young Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen), the baker girl got the prince and the princess was happy again. The end.

Well, not the end, because there’s a sequel coming. No joke, it’s seriously called The Princess Switch: Switched Again. A third Vanessa Hudgens is joining. It’s almost getting an Orphan Black vibe, only much less grim. The third Vanessa Hudgens is named Sofia, is a party girl, and seems to throw a wrench in the happily ever after lives of the other two Vanessas. Are we still following? The important thing to remember is that in each part, a Vanessa just joins in.

The only downside is that this Christmas movie does not come out at Christmas. I don’t know why, but maybe the creators came up with the idea for this sequel a bit too late. I can hardly imagine that, because this is actually just the same idea but executed differently. What comes next? The Princess Switch: Oops, We Did It Again? The Princess Switch: Switching Till The End Of Time? The Princess Switch: Unsurprisingly, We Switched One More Time? Until we have about forty little Vanessas running around. I think that’s the max.

But okay, production starts next month, and the movie itself will come out sometime in 2020. That means watching Christmas movies in the spring or summer. Oh well, throw in a little Mariah Carey and you won’t hear me complain. Every season is a Christmas movie season.
