The hot ’n steamy series and movies for during the heatwave

YES, let the sun into your heaaart. It’s going to be steaming hot again. And I am of course that type who constantly complains when the weather is bad, but also complains when it approaches thirty degrees (or worse: above), because yes, then it’s too warm again. And then I spout texts like: ‘Thirty degrees in Spain is lovely but here in the Netherlands it’s always so stuffy.’ Yes, it’s never good for me regarding the weather, so the chance is quite big that I won’t be outside much with these upcoming temperatures, because I burn within five minutes of course.
Buuut don’t be sad, because I have some lovely tips that will make you feel like you’re on the beach at forty degrees. From the bench. It’s possible.
1. Costa!
All four seasons AND the movie are just on Netflix. Heeeerlijk back to Salou with the talented hosts Daan Schuurmans and Katja Schuurman. What a lovely movie this still is; the series can’t quite compare but remains a nice guilty pleasure.
2. Love Island
For the different Love Island series, you need to go to Videoland, from our Dutch version to America, England, and Australia. The one from Australia is my personal favorite by the way.
3. In Love with Ibiza
Available on Netflix and I’m always amazed at how bad this movie actually is. Manuel Broekman as the hopelessly in love boy, Kim Feenstra as the ultimate trophy wife, Jan Kooijman as a footballer… It’s all so over the top and it remains delightful.
4. Baywatch
HAHA. Yes, really: all seven seasons are on Videoland. I never watched a single episode of this series back in the day, but I’m quite curious about what this hype was all about.
5. Temptation Island
Again on Videoland, and then ab-so-lutely the version from the United States to watch. I can’t even explain to you why this is brilliant. It has everything. My favorite season of all time.
6. Desperados
Just a movie tip in between, which hasn’t been out on Netflix for that long. I found it surprisingly enjoyable. Okay, pretty silly jokes and quite predictable all, but it’s set in tropical Mexico and it’s just very easy to watch. And I laughed out loud.
7. The Last Summer
A romcom that is super cliché with KJ Apa, who also brings his standard outfit from Riverdale here: shirtless. Totally fine.
8. Ibiza
Again a pretty bad movie (where the makers clearly didn’t film in Ibiza itself), but it is summery and definitely if you miss going out because of *^$(*% corona, then this is the movie for you.
9. Outer Banks
Only beautiful people, beautiful shots, wafer-thin storylines but still quite exciting and especially addictive… In other words: a great formula to get through that heatwave.
10. Too hot to handle
If you haven’t seen this ‘dating show’ on Netflix yet, I’m a bit disappointed, but it’s still online. WATCH. The people participating in this… I have no words for it.
