What your period says about your health

It is an understatement to say that we don't feel completely fit during menstruation, but that menstruation turns out to say much more about how fit we actually are.
A Harvard study that has been ongoing for 24 years involving 80,000 women shows that an irregular cycle is more often associated with health problems. What am I saying? Women who have a long or irregular cycle may even die younger than women who have a short or regular cycle. The irregular menstruation in this study was particularly associated with cardiovascular diseases. Although there seems to have been a correlation established between the cycle and women's health more often.
Gynecologist and expert Jacqueline Maybin emphasizes that you don't need to be overly concerned if your menstruation is a bit out of sync, as an irregular cycle is a symptom and not a diagnosis. But it can never hurt to use your menstruation and cycle as a gauge to see if you are healthy and remain so.
