With these series you feel like you're abroad

Earlier I wrote about movies that give you a vacation feeling from it, but there are of course plenty of those in terms of series as well. And even though I hear more and more people around me cautiously saying that they might go on vacation this summer... I can't see myself doing that, you know. And I actually think that's fine, because I just stay in beautiful Amsterdam, occasionally daydreaming about the series and then making a lot of plans in my head to get away. Almost just as fun, and financially a lot cheaper. And that daydreaming, I do it with the following series.
1. Gossip Girl
Yesss, you know you love me. When I was still a little silly blonde girl of ten, I was in New York for the first time. I didn't think it was great at all. I didn't understand the hype, everything seemed so big, everyone was just running around and when I couldn't see my parents anymore at Times Square, I thought for a moment that I would be stuck there forever. But when I went back more than fifteen years later and had watched the entire Gossip Girl series about three times, I completely fell in love with this city. Now I want to live there, later, when I grow up. Okay, in reality, NYC might be a bit less glamorous than in the series, but that's actually good. Because every time I rewatch Gossip Girl, I romanticize that city more and more in my head.
2. The Hills
And to the other side of the United States. Actually, you should link this to Laguna Beach. I really love that whole California vibe, even though I didn't necessarily find LA a fun city. However, I did want to hang out with Lauren, Whitney, and Audrina and I always wanted to be able to go to the beach. Dating Brody. Hitting up the coolest restaurants in LA and then heading to the equally cool clubs. Living the life.
3. Narcos
A bit grim, because such a drug vacation is not really my cup of tea, but it is a completely different world. And that South American world is so high on my bucket list. Watching Narcos has only made it higher on that list. It seems so impressively beautiful there.
4. Summertime
This is a new Netflix series and a real recommendation. Don't be fooled by the title, because it's not an English series. No, Summertime takes you to the Italian Adriatic coast and that's exactly what we need in these times, right? Italy will reopen on June 3rd and there's a good chance you'll have to share this coast with millions of tourists. No, I'd rather watch it from the couch. Delicious series.
5. White Lines
Also a new series, from the creators of La Casa de Papel. So it must be good, I thought. And it is indeed fully satisfying. And the setting is also not bad: it takes place in Ibiza. And it's also very exciting. The partying in Ibiza is included, but you also see a lot of the island and the lovely Spanish atmosphere. Oh yes, and in the meantime, the main character is trying to find out who murdered her brother. Small detail.
6. Virgin River
In a completely different category than the above tips. Very addictive, but also so wonderfully serene in nature. Beautiful mountains, lots of forests, and meanwhile quite a bit of drama in the series itself. I think this is a lovely tip to daydream about. I always want to book a little cabin in the heath for a weekend right away. Sounds lovely.
7. Definitely a great series, of course, but I am mainly referring to the last season: the trial of Taystee in which she is accused of murder — which she did not commit. As much as I enjoy this series, it was terribly frustrating to watch.
Just kidding, of course. But just because it's such a nice series to rewatch.
