About Thierry, Martijn and Eva

Often I fall asleep when Eva takes her throne, but not yesterday. And I can tell you: falling asleep during Jinek was impossible last night. Guests: Thierry Baudet and Farid Azarkan from DENK. It was all reasonably okay until the video started in which Jaïr Ferweda visited Theo Hiddema. In his residence on the Keizersgracht, he spoke in a Hiddemaesque manner, softly sipping from a cigarette, about the reasons for his departure from Forum for Democracy. He had quite a few ‘nice criminal cases’ going on and, well, that racist spiel that Thierry also happily participated in, did not appeal to him.

Back to the studio.

This was the moment to Thierry Baudet ask the question of whether he actually sent those racist messages. Fireworks. Thierry did not need to explain what he did privately, the others did not know Theo Hiddema as he did and could therefore not understand his words. This was again part of an exegesis (this word was used by Thierry about six times, I think he meant that he is suspected of things consciously, but the true meaning of exegesis is the explanation of biblical texts so I don't quite understand the word choice, but Thierry will undoubtedly think that I am too stupid to understand his version of the word exegesis). The video was restarted so we could hear what Theo Hiddema said. During these sentences, Thierry was already shaking his head furiously. He did not say this and he certainly did not mean it that way.

Anyway. It continued like this. To every question to Baudet, he responded with: ‘I find this so unfortunate...’ and ‘I am being framed again...’ or ‘So unfortunate that you are doing this...’ ’

Where Martijn Koning was the trump card to end the entire broadcast lightly, he awkwardly stepped onto the stage. Because Martijn knew what we did not yet know, namely the content of his ‘toast’. He must have also wondered whether it was okay, whether he was not going too far – a lot. But it was Thierry and he could take a hit. Then there was that broadcast in which Baudet was already quite on the grill and all present kept pouring a bit of turpentine on the coals. Rightly so to question someone critically because a good politician must be able to parry questions, but after this broadcast, it was just not the dessert that Eva had hoped for, I think.

Consequence: Thierry walked away.

Just like that. Pushed his chair back and left. I felt an awkward giggle rising and got a scared feeling when I saw the curtain behind Martijn Koning moving back and forth (because Thierry was walking past at that moment) and was left with a feeling of great discomfort on the couch.

One thing seems clear to me: If Eva ever becomes a Summer Guest, this fragment will be on her list.
