Caitlyn Jenner on trans women: ‘Should not participate in women's sports’

Caitlyn Jenner

Let me start with a statement: I am not a fan of Caitlyn Jenner. And I find that a shame, because she could have been the spokesperson for trans women. She was that in the beginning when her transition was portrayed on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, but especially in her own reality series I Am Caitlyn. I think everyone was rooting for her when she gave her first speech as Caitlyn. But then it quickly took a different turn.

The biggest problem I have with Caitlyn is that she is a passionate Trump supporter (and Republican). I mean: how? How can you, as a trans woman, support a politician and a party that passed an anti-trans law in North Carolina (the House Bill 2) and even managed to pass a law in Texas this month to ban all trans women from women's sports? There was a vote, with 18 to 12 the Republicans won and the law was passed. In the states of Kansas and North Dakota, they are working on a similar kind of law, only – thank God – the governors of those states have vetoed it.

Sounds bizarre, right? And yet this is something Caitlyn Jenner is fully in favor of. Because her view on this latest law has caused her to come under fire again; she supports this law 100 percent. As a trans woman. Excuse me?

She finds it ‘unfair’ to allow biologically male individuals to compete with women. ‘It's just not fair for biologically female athletes to have to compete against a woman who was originally born in a male body. I absolutely do not mean this disrespectfully to anyone, but we need to protect girls’ sports in schools.'

The LGBTQ+ community was already not a big fan of Caitlyn due to her prominent political statements and preferences, but now they have truly had enough. ‘She has never, ever, been a friend to our community,’ said the community from LA.

As you probably know, Caitlyn Jenner won the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics before her transition. Frankly, I find her statements even more remarkable because of that. You know how important sports are to humans, what goes through your mind as a trans woman to take this stance?

By the way, Caitlyn is currently attempting to become the governor of California, and part of her campaign is to make her political views known. These statements are part of that. Now California is a blue state, meaning democratic, and I really hope it stays that way.
