I watched Jaimie Vaes: In The Vaes Lane episode 2 and this is what I thought

Wow, that was a nice surprise. I thought I wouldn't open my Discovery+ until Monday, but it was actually yesterday afternoon at five o'clock, because episode 2 was online then. Just two in one week. You can definitely keep up that pace, you know. Especially since all episodes only last half an hour . A half hour in which not much really happens. And yet I keep watching of course, because it remains enjoyable. They could have called it Keeping Up With The Kardashians, because it revolves just as much around Koen as it does around Jaimie. In fact, I have many more questions about Koen than about Jaimie. It almost feels like a kind of detective story, with a cliffhanger every week: what is Koen Kardashian actually doing and where did he suddenly come from? So yes, this week I had a lot of thoughts again. And questions. Especially questions.

1. “I think people think my life is much more glamorous than it actually is,” says Jaimie while holding a glass of champagne.

2. Ten seconds later, her makeup is touched up by the makeup artist. Glamour? Where?

3. Koen has apparently just finished his renovation. I already wondered about it last time, but I didn't get an answer: what does this man do and where did he suddenly come from?

4. That Koen ‘Kardashian’ also adopts exactly the same false humor as Gordon. It works a bit better with a Gerard Joling in front of you instead of a Jaimie and a Lío, who is not exactly impressed.

5. “I do enjoy a fast food here and there.” How does this Mr. Kardashian manage to make even a drive-thru sound chic?

6. Ah, influencer life in 2021: “Nice candlesticks, sponsored right? I’ll call them too.”

7. Also strange actually: paying 95 euros for a bouquet of flowers that you throw away in a week, but not wanting to spend money on candlesticks.

8. Honestly: Jaimie handles it much better when the ordered food goes wrong. If I order roti, I want my roti and I can have a complete breakdown if that falls through.

9. After a day of shooting, of course, there has to be toasting and eating, but do all their houses just look like restaurants? Or do they really have a private chef come every night? So many questions.

10. By the way, the question remains what Koen ‘Kardashian’ actually does. I will find out one day.

11. That self-given last name suits him by the way, since this is also a question that is often asked about the real Kardashians.

12. Seriously, if I drank as much as they do and also ate for lunch what Koen was stuffing himself with at KFC, I would only be able to move by rolling.

13. Their ultimate criterion for an au pair is that she can cook well. Jaimie, don't you have private chefs for that?

14. Would they also visit places like that electrocution center without cameras? They really only do this because they think it's fun TV, right?

15. Everything is perfectly fine of course, but Jaimie says she is so busy that she needs a nanny.

16. Meanwhile... What did she actually do in this episode?

17. Visited the goat farm, went to some store that makes her belly even tighter, had drinks and in between she had a photoshoot for one day.

18. Oh yes, and she was of course busy interviewing one au pair — while she was having drinks again.

19. Sounds wonderful to have such a schedule.

20. Next time: Jaimie interviews another candidate for the ‘nanny’ position and has to recover again with a glass of wine.

21. Estelle believes you shouldn't hire a nanny who looks good, because then she's competition and that's a no-go.

22. Estelle sometimes has a bit of a narrow view.

23. Estelle might need to realize that not all nannies are out to conquer the man of the house.

24. For 99.99 percent of nannies, it is — bizarre, I know — a... Job.

25. Next week on ‘What is Koen Kardashian actually doing?’: Jaimie and Koen are going to release pigeons. Will you watch again?
