This is what really happens to your body when you stop eating meat

Yes, we say it again: eating vegetarian is hot. Vegan is trendy. Not eating meat? Absolutely good for the world, but did you know that according to experts it is also very good for your own body?
A steak here and there seems so innocent, but it ultimately isn't. Because meat is not exactly healthy. You might find it tasty, and that's okay, but for the vitamins and the real detox you don't have to risk a steak tartare.
So if you decide to not even skip meat once a week but just go cold turkey and stop eating all meat, this is what happens in your body, according to dietitians:
You lose weight
Eating meat makes you a bit meaty yourself, so to speak. That saves you a portion of fat per week, and your arteries also clog up less quickly.
You smell better
Meat makes your pores not smell very fresh. You smell a lot better naturally when you eat a lot of vegetables and fruits.
Your taste buds
You can taste better, doctors say, if you stop eating meat for a while. Your taste develops better. Or at least everything will taste a bit different. This is because meat is a source of zinc, which gives flavor to your food. So don't be surprised if food tastes a bit different to you at first.
You get tired
Okay. Not everything is positive about stopping eating meat, because meat does provide your body with a lot of iron, which gives you energy. Many new vegetarians often feel tired at first because they don't get enough iron. The solution: whole grain bread, dark green vegetables (broccoli, spinach), and iron tablets. Especially after giving birth or around your menstruation, you might need this.
Less chance of cancer
It's not that serious that you get sick from eating meat, but the World Health Organization made headlines last year by placing red meat on the list of carcinogenic substances, alongside alcohol and tobacco. Later, that strong message was somewhat relativized, but the fact remains that eating red meat increases the risk of colon cancer. And you also have a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. So now you know that too.
Don't want to stop completely? Then at least try to cut as much red and processed meat from your menu as possible. Fresh meat from the butcher is already a lot better for your body than factory-made. And instead of meat, eat a lot of eggs, nuts, and whole grain products. Vitamin B12 is a vitamin that only occurs in animal products. Therefore, when you don't eat any meat at all, it is advisable to take a vitamin B12 supplement. This way, you can live completely healthy and also save a lovely cow.
