The Princess Diaries 3 is really coming along now after all

Yesss, finally. The fans have been waiting for this for years, of course. And there has been speculation for years; is that third part of The Princess Diaries coming or not? The whole cast has always been enthusiastic about it, but it seemed like little was happening. Until now. Last night (Dutch time), it was announced that the third part is indeed in an early stage. LOVE IT.

They have even managed to snag a writer for the screenplay: Aadrita Mukerji. She previously wrote for series like Supergirl and Reacher. There is just one big downside: Anne Hathaway has not officially signed on to reprise her role as Mia yet. But that's just a formality, right? The actress has always been so enthusiastic about a possible third part, it can't be otherwise than that she will return. At least I hope so...

However, we need one more person to make that third part a success, and that is of course Julie Andrews. She has always been enthusiastic too, with a small caveat: ‘Maybe I'm a bit too much of an old grandma for it, I don't know.’ Nooo, come on, Julie Andrews is never too old. What a hero she is.

‘It depends on what the story is and whether they can come up with something good, that would be amazing. And if not, then there will be other things too,’ Julie Andrews also said. Well, I have complete confidence in this. And quickly, because we've been waiting quite a long time: the first film came out 21 years ago. I feel a bit old now...
