See: the very first trailer of Blonde

The era of biopics is really in full swing. In fact, I'm quite behind, because I think I'm the only one in the Netherlands who hasn't seen Austin Butler as Elvis yet. It's on the list, by the way, because I've heard a lot of positive stories about it. I've heard somewhat less positive stories — to be honest — about the film Blonde, which is about the life of Marilyn Monroe. Ana de Armas has the lead role and she really looks just like the late superstar. It's bizarre to see.
Where the criticism comes from? Many fans of Marilyn feel that the media should leave her alone for once. With the dress that Kim Kardashian wore to the Met Gala (worn by Marilyn Monroe herself), now a biopic... Of course, Marilyn has always been in the news, and that while she didn't always have it easy in her life. In a way, that's somewhat justified, but I must also honestly admit that I'm quite looking forward to this film.
That's also because it will be available on Netflix and that it has received an NC-17 rating. That means it's intended for those over seventeen, due to ‘some sexual content’. Yes, that certainly makes us curious.
But what has really made me curious is this trailer, which has just been released. First, we only saw photos of Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe, and now actual footage. Brilliantly cast, that's for sure. And judging by the trailer, it really looks like it's going to be a spectacle. Just a little longer to wait: it will be online on September 28.
