Cinema Tip: Everything Is Still As It Should Be

If you know me a little, then you know: I'm always up for a Dutch romcom. Whether it's really bad or great, I believe there is not a single one that I haven't seen. In that category, I have a really nice tip for you, the newest romcom with perhaps the longest name ever: Everything Is Still As It Should Be. Last Monday, it premiered in Amsterdam (and yours truly was there with a bucket of popcorn) and starting tomorrow, it will be showing in theaters. Really a must-see if you also enjoy a romcom here and there.
If you're a bit familiar with this genre, then the title probably sounds familiar to you, and that could be right: this is the sequel to Everything Is As It Should Be (and that was already a long title…). You can watch that online on Amazon Prime or at Pathé Thuis, but the nice thing is that this second part can also be enjoyed without any prior knowledge. Quite handy.
The film is about Iris (Barbara Sloesen) who has a peculiar talent for making quite a mess and hasn't heard of the concept ‘think first, then speak’. There is always complete chaos around her, but luckily she has friends Babette (Sanne Langelaar, who is actually just as chaotic), Claudia (Holly Mae Brood) and Linda (Anna Keuning) by her side. She has just given birth to her daughter with Reza (Walid Benmbarek) and also shares a son with her ex Pieter, who in turn has made Suus pregnant.
So quite a modern family, except that Iris can shoot everyone — except Reza and her children. But well, she has other things on her mind; she is getting married, and for her bachelorette party, they are heading to Paris to shop for the dress. And of course, to drink champagne and eat macarons at Ladurée. Oh yes, and to pop some pills at some shady party. HAHA.
Well, you can already tell: you won't be bored for a moment at Everything Is Still As It Should Be, and it has all the ingredients that a good romcom must have. Plan that movie date with your girlfriends.
