Doutzen Kroes makes a striking statement

Statement Doutzen Kroes

This morning I was — as always — aimlessly scrolling through Instagram, and through various connections, I ended up on Doutzen Kroes' account. Not that this will matter to her at all, but after her Instagram post about how grateful we should be for the coronavirus in 2020 I clicked the unfollow button. A choice I have no regrets about, as I always found her anti-vaccination posts and stories to be poorly substantiated. Not that this is still a major issue today, but I did come across a very different striking statement on Doutzen's page…

Yesterday she posted a carousel on Instagram with several photos of, among others, her handsome family. And, it must be said: how refreshing it is to see a well-known model like Doutzen with natural facial features? No Botox has been involved here, and that is also nice to see. Doutzen is now 38 and still looks amazing. Although I wonder if that is due to the products she uses.

The third photo is of the bottle Lulu by Nature, and that is a — understatement, this — fairly problematic brand. They call this bottle ‘sunshine in a bottle’, and in another post, they describe it as ‘a vibe. A feeling. A message from Mother Earth in a bottle. For you to receive through your heart and your body’. Well, I still have no idea what this product is, but I at least know what it is not: sunscreen.

Because Lulu by Nature does not believe in that. According to the creator of this, we do not get skin cancer from sunlight, but we can actually get it if we do not sit in the sun. Yep, Lulu by Nature tries to convince people that you get skin cancer from a deficiency of vitamin D.

A crazy vision and literally life-threatening message to give to people, and I was genuinely surprised that Doutzen supports this brand so openly. Well, that ‘we should be grateful for corona’ video was still somewhere in my memory, but I had hoped that it would just be a moment of insanity.

If this is still necessary: you absolutely get skin cancer from sun exposure, and a lack of vitamin D has absolutely nothing to do with it. Hopefully, Doutzen will realize this soon.
