Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: these pizza sticks are your favorite Sinterklaas snack this year.

Sinterklaas can fill his entire steamship with presents, but we are only looking forward to one thing: all the food waiting for us. Pepernoten, chocolate letters, speculaas… We sprinkle, eh, throw ourselves completely full. For your Sinterklaas snack board, Lidl now has a really tasty addition: these fun Sinterklaas pizza sticks.

INGREDIENTS
– 2 tablespoons of flour
– 10 sheets of puff pastry
– 1 container of tomato tapenade
– 2 tablespoons of Italian herbs
– 200 grams of grated cheese (mature)
– 1 container of pesto (green)
– 100 milliliters of sauce (barbecue sauce, tomato ketchup or taco sauce)

This year, Lidl is definitely your (good) holy place if you (like us) can't resist your December 5 cravings. For chocolate letters, for example, which are now in a delicious luxury variant on the shelves. But also for the famous croquette letter: the snack that made me shoot our mitre with enthusiasm. These pizza sticks are the newest Sinterklaas gift that Lidl gives us. Whether you've been sweet this year or not, you deserve this savory snack anyway.

MAKING PIZZA STICKS: HERE'S HOW YOU DO IT

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Dust your work surface with flour and roll out the dough with a rolling pin.
  3. Roll out to a sheet that is at least 30 cm high and 3 millimeters thick.
  4. Spread the puff pastry with tomato tapenade and sprinkle with Italian herbs.
  5. Distribute the grated cheese over the tomato tapenade.
  6. Cut the puff pastry into narrow strips 1.5 centimeters wide. Hold a strip of puff pastry at both ends and twist it gently in opposite directions to create a twisted shape. Repeat this with all the strips.
  7. Place the twisted puff pastry twisters in the shape of a stick, S, or P on the lined baking sheet. Make sure to leave a little space between each twister.
  8. Bake the twisters for about 8 to 12 minutes until they are cooked and golden brown. Remove the pizza twisters from the oven and let them cool briefly. Serve the pizza twisters with green pesto and the sauce of your choice.
