The 12 questions a doctor asks to know if you have ADHD

By

Lately, I see a huge increase in people who say they have ADHD. It sounds silly, but sometimes I almost feel like it's a hype. Just like OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) was before. And as someone with diagnosed OCD I always found that quite remarkable, because it's really no fun and especially very exhausting to deal with that every day.

Fortunately, I now have almost a full bingo card, because I can also cross ADHD off my list. Lucky me. This disorder was previously mainly diagnosed in children, but there has been a significant increase in adults in recent years. And that's quite nice too, because such a diagnosis can be a huge relief. A case of ‘see, I'm not crazy’.

You can already get a bit of an indication at home if this is the case for you, because Dr. Ali Ajaz shared twelve questions on TikTok that he always asks to find out if someone has ADHD. Can you answer ‘yes’ to all these questions? Then it's definitely a good idea to have a professional take a look.

1. Do you have trouble focusing on everyday tasks?
2. ‘Do you often ’zone out' or lose track of time?
3. Do you make careless mistakes during work or assignments?
4. Do you struggle to start tasks and often leave everything until the last minute?
5. Do you have trouble finishing one task at a time?
6. Do you have trouble keeping things organized?
7. Are you ever embarrassed about the mess in your bedroom, house, or workspace?
8. Do you often lose essential things like your mobile phone, keys, and wallet?
9. Do you have trouble relaxing or clearing your mind?
10. Do you have sleep problems because your brain just keeps going?
11. Do you have trouble waiting your turn in lines or during conversations?
12. Do you have trouble listening when someone speaks to you directly?

Super this: my score was 12 out of 12, and the psychologist I spoke to in my teenage years will probably now think: ‘I told you so…’.
