There are two moments when that seems the worst to me: one when you are about to say ‘yes’ and standing at the altar, and the other is when you are stepping into film history and about to receive your second Oscar. Then to rip your dress which is also strapless; before you know it, you are standing there with just a skirt around your hips.
It happened to Emma Stone who ripped out of her Louis Vuitton for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things. Her stylist Petra Flannery must have had a heart rate close to 200 when she saw Emma walk onto the stage, because the zipper of her couture dress actually ripped.
Emma did what you expect from a great actress: she got herself out of it with a joke and gave the performance of Ryan Gosling and her enthusiastic singing the blame. Of everything.
