Women win big at the Grammys: everything about last night

It was time again for the most important evening for the musicians: the Grammy Awards were presented last night (local time). Last year was the year of Harry Styles (who won an award for Album of the Year, the most important award of the evening), but then he gave a performance that unfortunately did not go smoothly. He sang As It Was on a rotating stage, but when he wanted to start... The stage suddenly turned the other way than during the rehearsals. Fortunately, Harry is a pro and managed to get through it, but we didn't expect a performance from him this year. It also helps that he wasn't nominated and therefore not present.
No, this was the year of Taylor Swift; she was able to break records. And she did: for her album Midnights, she took home the Album of the Year award for the fourth time (presented by Céline Dion, who made a public appearance for the first time in a long time); no artist had managed to do that yet. That wasn't the only surprise of the evening: Swift shared a ‘little secret she had kept for two years’: her brand new, eleventh album will be released on April 19 and is titled The Tortured Poets Department. The cover was immediately posted on Instagram. As a huge Swiftie, I am of course very happy about this and wonder if she will include a song from this album on The Eras Tour, which will still be in full swing. As for the album's name, it seems like we are heading more towards Folklore and Evermore again, which I wouldn't mind at all.
The other winners of the evening were Miley Cyrus, who won Record of the Year with Flowers, and Billie Eilish, who won the award for Song of the Year with What Was I Made For?. Both performed, and especially Miley's performance was brilliant. Of course, she sang Flowers, but changed the lyrics to ‘I just won my first Grammy!’ Isn't it crazy that this is her first Grammy of her entire career? More than deserved, if you ask me.

Jay-Z also won an award: he received a special award for his entire body of work and brought his daughter Blue on stage during his acceptance speech. And in that speech, he made a little Kanye: he wanted to mention that it's crazy that Beyoncé has never taken home the Album of the Year award, despite having won so many Grammys. It's typical that this is said again when Taylor Swift wins the award in question (Kanye did this in 2009 when he stormed the stage during Taylor's speech, who had just received the Grammy for Best Female Video).
According to Jay-Z, he embarrassed his wife Beyoncé with this, but she forgave him well — Queen B. had worn a gigantic cowboy hat as an accessory for the occasion.

Another beautiful moment was the performance by Joni Mitchell. She is now 80 years old, but this was the first time she gave a concert during the Grammys. She performed her world-famous From Both Sides Now and also took home the award for Best Folk Album. She may be a lot older, but she sang this song just as beautifully as always.

The Grammys didn't start off very pleasantly: rapper Killer Mike, part of the rap group Outkast, was handcuffed before the event began. He himself won three Grammys (Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album), but could not complete his acceptance speech. Why he was arrested is still unclear, but we will surely hear more about it soon.
