6 X WHY A LIFE WITHOUT TV IS MORE FUN
I have been living without watching TV for a year now. Why? Well, actually because I find it a mind-numbing habit. And I already have plenty of those. Because: Netflix (on my laptop), Facebook, Instagram, the necessary online magazines and stuff, that's where I get caught: Happn. Indeed, that dating app.
I really enjoy the TV-free existence. Just look at the benefits it has.
1. How much you watch it
Suppose you watch an average of 7 to 12 hours of TV daily, that means you sit in front of the screen for 5 hours a day. That's 35 hours a week or almost 11 of the 52 weeks a year. Just think about how many books you could have read in that time.
2. You save money
Such a TV subscription quickly costs around forty euros a month. Add your energy costs to that, because yes, such a digital box is on 24/7, and that costs electricity. That's again a nice outfit from Zara that you save every month. Or that evening truffles with colleagues.

3. You get your evenings back
Usually, the TV goes on around dinner time. It probably only gets turned off when you go to bed. Bye evening. Often you watch just for the sake of watching.
4. Movies or documentaries become a conscious choice
Without TV, you consciously switch on your tablet or laptop at moments when you do want to relax (read: be lazy) to watch a movie or documentary. It becomes a conscious choice. When your movie is over, it's over and you have time for another little project.
5. You become calmer
Less commercials, fewer stimuli, less comparison material. You start doing things that make your life better. And fill your head with things that make you happy. Reading, exercising, and meeting up with friends, for example.
6. You get thinner
Watching TV makes you fat. Without thinking about it, you reach for a bag of chips and then shamelessly eat it all. Because yes, admit it, that just happens automatically. By leaving the TV off, the bag stays in the cupboard. And maybe you go to the gym. Or do a workout next to your bed (read here what my best workout apps are).
And if something really exciting happens on TV, I catch up... Kiki, farmer Bertie and May ...
