NETFLIX COMEDY MARATHON
Movies for when you're looking for something light to watch
All those horror movies on Netflix not really meant for you? Or have you actually watched them and now suffer from insomnia because you find everything scary these days? No worries, Netflix has so much more on offer that will lift your spirits. So if you have a couch potato session planned, want to watch something light that doesn't require too much thought and only needs your laughing muscles? Here are some of the funniest comedies currently available on Netflix:
Trainwreck
Some might find her too crude, but I love Amy Schumer. Especially in this film she made with director Jude Apatow. Amy plays the role of Amy (wow, how original) who is convinced that monogamy is unrealistic, leading her to live a wonderfully wild life with lots of drinking and sex. And as you might expect, she falls in love. The best part about this is probably the role of John Cena. So if you haven't seen it yet: DO IT.
The 40 Year Old Virgin
A classic. Even if it's just for the scene where Steve Carrell gets waxed, which he actually did for the film. What luck that it went well after just one take. Anyways, so many awkward (almost) sex scenes that make you feel secondhand embarrassment. Love it.
Once again something with Steve Carrell (comedy gold, this man) and Tina Fey. Long story short: a date night that ends in total chaos.
Zombieland
This is a kind of horror comedy in one, as it revolves around zombies (Zombieland, with that name it was to be expected) and Woody Harrelson trying to survive there with Emma Watson. A bit of a weird movie too, but fine if you don't quite know what to put on.
The Invention of Lying
I feel it's a kind of obligation to always watch everything Ricky Gervais is in; I love this man. This film is also about him, Mark in the film, who ‘discovers’ lying in a world where no one has ever lied. He uses it to get a higher position and win the heart of Jennifer Garner. Worth watching!
Intouchables
Maybe my all-time favorite movie. Yes, there is of course a sad story attached to it about a man (Philippe) who is paralyzed, but it's Driss, played by the French actor Omar Sy (#futurehusband) who brings ‘fun’ back into Philippe's life. I can hardly imagine there are people who haven't seen this film, but if that's the case, stop what you're doing and watch it.
White Chicks
Maybe the favorite comedy movie of our Kiek. She knows practically all the dialogues by heart and immediately goes into a kind of laughing fit when she starts talking about it. Well, two FBI agents go undercover as two (the title of the film says it all) white chicks to protect the heirs of a hotel empire. Watch this and you'll spontaneously get a six-pack from laughing.
Happy binging!
