Uncomfortable milestones that let you know you are doing well
When we talk about milestones that we often forget to celebrate, based on relationships, these are theml. And if you think that milestones should always have something festive, then I’ve got news for you. They are certainly not always fun, especially when you are still ‘growing’ (let's say, somewhere in your twenties), but know that they are indeed an indication that you are doing well. Need examples? Here they come:
Searching for your dream job
If you have known exactly what you want to do since you were young when you finally become ‘adult’, then lucky you. But don’t worry if you don’t know it all yet. What you don’t want is some ‘normal’ (read: boring) job. You want something challenging, something you look forward to every day. And no, you really don’t have to earn the big bucks every month, as long as you do something that gives you the feeling that you don’t necessarily need that week of vacation.
Being afraid of financial setbacks
You can’t always expect your parents to support you financially. You start keeping track of your expenses and accept that you can’t go out every weekend because you also need to save money for the future. Saving, that’s the key word here.
Experiencing heartbreak of the most intense kind
The kind that makes you decide never to fall in love again in your life. But guess what? It may take a while, but you will find out that every broken heart eventually heals.
Feeling guilty for putting yourself first once
But did you know that saying ‘no’ is anything but selfish??
Realizing that you need to work hard on yourself
Everyone has their own sadness and struggles in life and yes, that varies greatly from person to person. But you become aware of the things you experience and see as negative and look for a way to embrace your own flaws.
Admitting that you have made wrong decisions
Part of growing up is daring to admit when you make mistakes and realizing that you are not always right. And also not unimportantly: learning to say sorry. Except in this situations then.
Growing up isn’t so bad after all.
