Je weet dat je van me houdt: Gossip Girl reboot gaat van start

Fi-nal-lyyyyyy. I think this — apart from Friends and I really don't see that happening anytime soon — is the most discussed reboot ever. Because as soon as we knew who Gossip Girl was, we had recovered from what a disappointment they had served us (‘The reveal?’ That marriage?) and then unanimously decided that this was unbelievable and impossible, we wanted that reboot. In fact: we deserve that reboot.

Because (SPOILERS) Dan as Gossip Girl, you can't just get away with that. Every time I think about it again I get angry. Because really, slut-shaming your own sister? Totally ruining the great love of your life? It makes absolutely no sense. So I hope that the reboot at least gets a different reveal. We as viewers deserve a worthy Gossip Girl.

And it seems that we are really going to get that now. Whether it is a worthy replacement, that remains to be seen, but the filming is about to begin. Yes, REALLY. Warner Bros. has informed magazine Variety that filming will start in October. And the episodes will be released sometime next year. It will still take a while, but at least there is concrete news and that makes me happy.

What also makes me happy is that Kristen Bell is returning as the voice. The one and only Gossip Girl. That at least provides a familiar feeling. Furthermore, they want to show how the Upper East and West Side teenagers survive in 2020 in New York City. A number of the cast is already known: Emily Alyn Lind, Tavi Gevinson, Thomas Doherty, Adam Chanler-Berat, and Zion Moreno will be seen in the new Gossip Girl. No name rings a bell for me, but that doesn't matter: we're watching for the fashion, the New York setting, and above all: the DRAMA.
