In these destinations, the sun is still shining brightly in October

Although the weather in the Netherlands is actually quite okay for a month like October, I get very little of that vitamin D during the week. And I happen to need it just as much with my autumn dip that I can feel coming from miles away. Plus: a few extra rays of sunshine wouldn't hurt my looks either. That golden brown tan of mine from this summer has, to my great disappointment, completely faded. Fortunately, there are still plenty of warm destinations in Europe and nearby where you can easily touch up your tan this autumn break. Here they come.
Cape Verde
Maybe not the most adventurous destination — you shouldn't go there for nature — but definitely one that is doable on a budget. With a six-hour flight and a meager time difference of two hours, it's an ideal place for a short vacation in the fall. You never have bad weather here; the sun just shines all year round. What a life.
Cyprus
A few reasons why Cyprus is the place to catch some sun in the fall: temperatures can rise to thirty (!) degrees, you can take the most beautiful photos, flight tickets are relatively cheap, and a cocktail costs you less than five euros. What more could a person want? A ‘short’ four-hour flight and you're there.
Canary Islands
It is touristy, but at least you don't have to worry about sitting under a parasol on the terrace in pouring rain for a whole week. With about 24 degrees on the clock, you can be lying on the beach here within four hours by plane. Coincidentally, I was there at the end of August. At Lanzarote, to be precise. An ideal vacation if you want to read six books.
Greece
Greece is always a good idea, but in the summer it can get very touristy and hot. Forty degrees, well, not everyone is looking forward to that. In the fall, it is therefore much more pleasant with an average of 25 degrees. If you mainly want to eat well, choose an island like Kos where you can get to within 3.5 hours by plane. Prefer to go out and about? Crete it is.
Malta
Do you find just a beach a bit meager? Then you will surely be happy with a city like Malta, which is by the sea. Two birds with one stone. The temperature in the fall is around 23 degrees. This way you can still do plenty of things, but end the day nicely with a splash in the sea. Three hours on the plane and you're in the heart of Malta. Already convinced?
