Season 7 where are they now

That was it again, dear people. Another season of MAFS is over. And just like in season 6 I fall a bit into a black hole afterwards. A combination of emptiness (because I miss MAFS) and shame (because I watched MAFS for a whole work week again) and panic (what should I watch now?). Well, a work week was clearly not enough this time either, because I wanted to know how our couples are doing now. Is there still anyone together? Did any drama come after the broadcast? Has there been any swapping in the couples? Yes, yes and YES. Let me update you on all the couples and I can already tell you: it is juicyyyyy.

Poppy and Luke: Who?
Who were these two again? Oh yes, Poppy who had a breakdown at the wedding and actually continued that whole breakdown until the first commitment ceremony and then went home. These two are no longer in contact.

Vanessa and Chris: Nope
I’ll start with the dullest couples, just so you know. Because with these: who? I found Vanessa endearing and sweet and so sadly insecure, while she is a beautiful woman. But there was no click with Chris and they were just quite... Blah. Boring.

Amanda and Tash: Not so friendly
It could have been so beautiful: the first same-sex marriage. But soon there were significant cracks in this relationship and honestly: they really had no chance of success. Tash quickly had another: a blonde lady with whom she was soon photographed on the street, while the series was still airing (the creators won't have been happy about that). Amanda was also not very pleased about it and wrote on Instagram under a photo of Tash: ‘What a pack of fake plastic try hard moles!!! No f—- given.’ Classy, Amanda. She also deleted her comment and kept quiet. Although she did express that she suspects Tash was already dating this blonde Madison during the experiment, which Tash denied. Nah, I wouldn’t put these exes in the same room.

Hayley and David: So done like a well-done steak
Stick a fork in ‘em, they’re done. Well, that was also to be expected. After he scrubbed the toilet with her toothbrush and she preferred to stick her tongue in Michael rather than in David, the chance of reconciliation was already quite small. Better that they could just act normally towards each other during the reunion (which is not always obvious for both), but a friendship is not in the cards between these two.

Cathy and Josh: No way
This couple also didn’t make it, while I actually liked them at first. But unfortunately, it completely fell apart and in hindsight, Josh has little good to say about Cathy. He claimed she only participated for publicity and was a completely different person towards him when the cameras weren’t around.

Aleks and Ivan: Have reached destination Splitsville
What a vagos, these two. I really didn’t understand anything about it. That Ivan is especially such a weird guy, I wonder if he can even have sexual feelings. In terms of backgrounds, I understand why they were matched, but further... Like two scared rabbits, they fled from the experiment, without facing their fellow contestants. During the reunion, they suddenly appeared again, AS A COUPLE. Is it not happening? Well, it indeed wasn’t and they are now apart again. Ivan was supposedly spending too much time with Mikey and becoming a bit of a party boy and Aleks was not having that.

Natasha and Mikey: Spill the teaaaa
Yesss, this is quite juicy already, you know. Mikey who supposedly shared a bed with Stacey, which Stacey kept denying. Natasha angry, Stacey angry, Michael angry, everyone angry. But what turns out? It seems that things went a bit differently than that innocent Mikey initially told. In leaked texts (you can find them here) it became clear that he asked Stacey to swap when he was still with Natasha. WHUT. He also said he actually wanted to kiss her after the dinner party that evening. Stacey is keeping a bit vague... Could it be that Mikey was the instigator? Maybe Stacey really fell for his charms, but maybe Mikey was just offended that she rejected him. Either way, Mikey is single and living his best Instagram life and it seems that he is participating in the next season in 2021.

Connie and Jonethen: Also the friendship is over and out
Aah, I really love Connie. I genuinely think she is the nicest and sweetest participant ever. And it’s such a shame that Jonethen didn’t feel it. She remained respectful and sweet towards him, and okay, she wrote ‘stay’ three times in a row while he wanted to leave, which may not have been very smart, but I really wish her the man of her dreams. How she stood during their Final Vows, so strong and having grown so much as a woman. And they seemed to be very okay with each other, even during the reunion. They were also friends, until Connie’s birthday when she celebrated it in a bar in Sydney. Jonnie had promised to come by, but he was first at an event with Ivan and Mikey and didn’t show up without saying anything. That was the last straw for Connie and now the two no longer follow each other on Insta and the friendship is over. Jonnie has a new girlfriend and Connie is, I hope, the happiest.

Mishel and Steve: Completely done after the burn of the century
Ooooh, that speech from Mishel to Steve. GOOD FOR YOU. What a weakling you are. ‘You’ve wasted my time.’ Tell him, Mishel. You go, girl. She didn’t need Steve in her life anymore and that was clear, I believe. In hindsight, Mishel did say that she heard from very reliable sources that Steve actually likes men. Maybe he just wanted his 15 seconds of fame, because he had already participated in Blind Dates UK before this. Either way, she deserves better.

Lizzie and Seb: Yeeeheeeessss
Yesss, finally Lizzie got the man and the ending she deserved. Holy shitballs, what a drama with Sam (and Ines). Nah, you wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Especially not on TV, I’d say. And the good news is: they are still together. At the reunion, they already said they were going to live together, and that was really the plan... Until our good friend Rona took over the world. In the meantime, Seb has moved in with Lizzie, but they don’t live together yet; he is still temporarily sleeping at a friend’s place. But these two are still completely in love and that is good news. Juicy: it has leaked that Seb used to work as a stripper in a gay-friendly bar.

KC and Drew: You won’t see this coming
As a couple, it wasn’t going to work, we already knew that right away. But what you probably didn’t see coming is the friend with whom KC later moved in. As in: living together. MICHAEL. No joke, KC ran off with Stacey’s ex. She did tell Stacey – very nicely – beforehand when Michael asked her to go for a drink. So no sneaky business. But these two also had to deal with the Coroonies and faced the choice: quarantine together or not see each other for a long time? They chose the former and KC packed her bags to live with Michael. Heavy. They were together for about seven months. Yes, you read that right: they are no longer together. Michael apparently has another one already.

Stacey and Michael: THE JUICE
Save the best for last, for sure. These two have somewhat made the season. I have the impression that Stacey’s lips only got thicker throughout the season and I understood so little of their love for each other. And then also repeatedly stating that they really have the strongest relationship of all. HOW? But well, to no one’s surprise, this relationship ultimately didn’t work, but to everyone’s surprise, Michael’s new girlfriend, with whom he was spotted... STACEY. Yesss, after KC and Michael broke up, he was spotted again with Stacey and some of her friends. Well, say. How many times do you want to try? They claim to just be friends for now, but no one believes that. God, it would be something... That they (together with Lizzie and Seb) ultimately are the couple that stays together. Miracles are not out of this world yet.
