Healthy, healthy, well, that’s of course debatable. Exercising is definitely super good for you. But if you add up all the aspects, one sport really stands out with both head and ball. It is… padel. And here’s why. Padel is incredibly fun – and that’s really where it all starts. Besides being a great workout, it’s also the perfect social activity. For a few years now, so many Dutch people have become fans of padel. Last year, over 350,000 people played a game every month. That’s an 18% growth in one year! And the courts are popping up just as fast. Worldwide, it’s even the fastest-growing sport at the moment. But besides being wildly popular, padel is also extremely healthy. When you look at the mix of longer life, a fit body, a sharp brain, and social fun, no other sport scores this high. 1. Padel is insanely addictive fun (and very accessible) Thanks to the smaller court, the glass walls, and the underhand stroke, you quickly get long rallies. And that’s so much fun. The technique is really simpler than tennis, and the game is much more dynamic. The best part: you are allowed to use the glass back wall. That makes padel feel like a perfect mix of tennis and squash. It’s fast, playful, and strategic. No wonder it seems like everyone is playing padel now. 2. Hard facts: racket sport players really live longer Several studies show that people who play racket sports have a 47% lower chance of premature death compared to non-athletes. A Danish study even mentions an average gain of 9.7 years of life for those who regularly play tennis, squash, or padel. 3. A full-body workout without wrecking your joints During matches, padel players reach about 40-50% of their maximum oxygen uptake and heart rate zones equivalent to a solid HIIT session, but with less impact than running. Also, playing on cushioned artificial turf greatly reduces injuries, and the smaller court means much less strain on your knees and ankles than many other ball sports. 4. Mega workout for your brain Yes, I definitely needed this too. Every ball exchange demands split-second decisions, positioning (one player mostly stays back, the other near the net), and of course communication with your partner („Will you take this ball or me?“). Sinds 2019 ben ik helemaal verslaafd aan Married at First Sight Australia. Zozeer dat ik echt uitkijk naar het nieuwe jaar wanneer een nieuw seizoen begint. MAFS Australia is leuk, mooi, extravagant en super spannend. Ik ben eerlijk gezegd jaloers als je nu denkt: “Huh? Heb het nog nooit gezien.” Dan heb je nog veel heerlijke seizoenen om te binge-watchen. Vanaf seizoen 5 werd het format veranderd zodat de beste series begonnen te worden geproduceerd (denk aan altaren, feesten, families, samenwonen, diners, verbintenisceremonies en seksuele adviezen). Voor iedereen die, net als ik, verslaafd voor de tv zit, hier is een update over welke koppels er vandaag de dag nog samen zijn.

MAFS Australia: the couples that have made it

Erin & Bryce (S2) Het oudste MAFS-koppel dat nog steeds samen is. Samen sinds 2016. Low profile, high love. Erin & Bryce houden hun relatie bewust buiten de schijnwerpers, vermijden veel sociale media en zeggen dat het hun succes helpt. Jules & Cam (S6) The most celebrated couple in MAFS history. They are fun, sweet, kind, and modest. Iedereen droomt van een sprookje zoals Jules & Cam. In 2019 trouwden Jules & Cam echt, zonder camera's en mede-deelnemers. In 2020 werd hun eerste kind, zoon Oliver, geboren. In 2024 hun tweede zoon Carter. Jules & Cam zijn het bewijs dat een MAFS-match niet alleen werkt in een realitysetting — maar ook werkelijkheid wordt. Liefde, groei, echt leven met ups en downs. Hun verhaal is een van de meest geloofwaardige succesverhalen in het MAFS-universum. Vanwege hun populariteit zijn Jules & Cam echte beroemdheden geworden. Ze worden vaak uitgenodigd voor rode loper evenementen en liefdadigheidsevenementen. Jules lanceerde haar eigen shapewearlijn Figur, met de focus op inclusieve maten en lichaamspositiviteit, en werd het gezicht van verschillende schoonheidsmerken, en werkt samen met merken zoals Olay. Cam werkt met sport- en familie merken en schrijft regelmatig columns over vaderschap en welzijn. Martha & Michael (S6) Nog steeds samen, verloofd en met een kind. In hetzelfde seizoen 6 zagen we ook Martha & Michael. Martha, als make-up artist, was misschien iets te trendy voor Michael, maar je zag hun liefde groeien gedurende het seizoen (en de jaren daarna). Michael, voorheen basisschoolleraar, is nu personal trainer. In 2021 trouwden ze opnieuw en in februari 2023 werden ze ouders van zoon Lucius. Martha heeft aan haar carrière gewerkt met de beauty-podcast Swipe Up, was te zien in Celebrity Apprentice (2021) en werkt samen met merken zoals Priceline en Olay. Martha & Michael wonen in Bondi Beach, Sydney. Kerry & Johnny (S8) The second most friendly and fun couple in MAFS Australia. Good-looking, nice, cozy. Their love really shone through the screen. In July 2022, Johnny got down on one knee for real during a boat trip in Sydney Harbour, and on January 5, 2023, the wedding took place in Brisbane. On June 14, 2024, their daughter Chloe Rossi Balbuziente was born. Together with their dog Enzo, they moved to Brisbane. Kerry is praised for her authenticity; she is honest and does not just try to maintain a facade. Melissa & Bryce (S8) Getrouwd sinds 2023 en ouders van een tweeling. Deze relatie had niemand kunnen voorspellen. Hij was super onhandig, onvriendelijk en helemaal niet tactisch. Al snel zei hij dat Melissa niet zijn type was (tijdens de vraagronde). Hij loog over het contact met zijn ex en gaslightte haar tot het uiterste. Maar Melissa bleef. Sterker nog, hij vroeg haar ten huwelijk en ze trouwden opnieuw zonder camera's. In oktober 2021 werden ze ouders van de tweeling jongens Levi & Tate. Ook Melissa deelt openhartig en eerlijk het gezinsleven op Instagram, over moederschap, lichaamspositiviteit en de balans tussen werk en gezin. Eerlijk gezegd, dit had ik niet verwacht. Evelyn & Duncan (S10) The most perfect “couple swap” ever. They were not paired with each other, but seemed to be each other's true love. Evelyn, way too beautiful, was matched with Rupert. Honestly, it really did not work. Een grote “notenkraker”, misschien wel de notenkraker van de eeuw. Duncan werd gekoppeld aan Alyssa, een lief meisje, maar ook niet de perfecte match. Maar na de show begon er iets te bloeien tussen deze twee charmante mensen. Evelyn & Duncan begonnen als vrienden, maar na de opnames ontstond er romantiek — en in mei 2023 werden ze officieel een stel. In augustus 2023 verhuisden ze samen naar Sydney, inclusief Evelyns twee teckels (Pickles & Mustard). Op Instagram zag ik dat ze op vakantie waren in Hongkong en Vietnam. Wat ik het mooiste vind, is dat Evelyn over hun leeftijdsverschil zei: “het voelt meer als een zegen dan een probleem”. Gelukkig kunnen we nog veel van hen genieten: ze hebben een succesvolle podcast waarin ze de MAFS Dinner Parties recapituleren en hun heerlijke en ongefilterde meningen over alle drama delen. Jade & Ridge (S11) Jade & Ridge waren een van de twee verrassingsparen die later in het MAFS-seizoen begonnen. Maar niet zonder succes. Het paar is nog steeds gelukkig, ondanks de geruchten tijdens de show dat Ridge ontrouw zou zijn geweest. In mei 2024 verhuisde Ridge van Sydney naar de Gold Coast om bij Jade en haar dochter Victoria (nu 8 jaar) te wonen. Voor mij was dit niet het meest sprankelende paar. Maar in Australië zijn ze zeker populair, met 50.000 volgers op TikTok waar veel mensen hun video's (vakantie naar Bali) en gezinsuitjes bekijken, wat laat zien dat hun relatie al lang geen experiment meer is — maar echte liefde. Jono & Ellie (S11) After the experiment, they became a couple, now living together and in love. No one saw this coming. During the reunion, they announced their relationship. I couldn't believe it. But even today, they are still together. In fact, they live together on the Gold Coast, where they also bought their first house. They share much of their life on Instagram, where I see many vacations. Billy & Awhina (S12) Eerst vrienden, nu geliefden. Officieel samen. Ahhhhh Billy & Awhina, zo intens leuk. Niet officieel gematcht, maar nu toch samen. Billy werd gekoppeld aan de ijsprinses Shierhah, Awhina aan Adrian. Maar zonder succes. Wat leuk dat ze elkaar nu gevonden hebben. Het begon met vriendschap, maar sinds juni 2025 zijn ze officieel een stel. Op Instagram schreven ze: “I’ll keep this one.” Van vriendschap naar liefde. Wat helemaal geweldig is, is dat Billy zijn relatie met zijn zoon Landon laat zien. Vaarwel Adrian & Shierhah. Elliot & Jamie (S12) Whoop Whoop: Nieuwe romance alert! Elliot & Jamie zijn net een stel. Tijdens het vrijgezellenfeest dacht ik echt, Jamie vind ik niet leuk. Wat een luidruchtige “gek”. Maar ze bleek een van de leukste, eerlijkste en meest oprechte deelnemers van het jaar te zijn. Jamie, die gekoppeld was aan Dave, leek een droomkoppel. Maar helaas draaide Dave zijn jas om. Elliot werd gekoppeld aan twee gekken. Hoewel ik in het begin dacht dat het aan hem lag, bleek hij later een fijn persoon te zijn, zowel van binnen als van buiten. Dat deze twee samen zijn vind ik zo leuk. Of het helemaal officieel is weet ik niet, maar voor nu geloof ik sterk in hen en hoop dat ze voor altijd samen zijn.

Jack & Tori (S11) Since March 2025, it's over. A special couple. Jack is really a ”pain in the neck.” Tori is kind. Sometimes I thought she looked like Diana when she looked down from above. Often I sat in front of the TV and thought: Run Tori. Run. But no, she stayed. In fact, she moved to the Gold Coast for Jack and still lives there. They say they have not fought or had drama. They have parted ways as friends and are still sports buddies.

They didn’t seem like the brightest couple to me, but in Australia, they are popular, with 50,000 followers on TikTok, where many people watch their videos (vacations in Bali) and family outings, showing that their relationship is no longer an experiment but true love. Many times I looked at the screen and thought: Run Tori, run. But no, she stayed. Even more, she moved to the Gold Coast for Jack and still lives there. They say they didn’t have fights or dramas. They separated as friends and are still sports buddies.

Seit 2019 bin ich total süchtig nach „Married at First Sight Australia“. So sehr, dass ich sehnsüchtig auf das neue Jahr warte, bis eine neue Staffel startet. MAFS Australia ist unterhaltsam, schön, übertrieben und mega juicy. Ehrlich gesagt bin ich neidisch, wenn du jetzt denkst: Huch, nie gesehen. Dann hast du einfach noch so viele großartige Staffeln zum Nachholen. Ab Staffel 5 wurde das Format so angepasst, dass seitdem die besten Serien produziert wurden (denk an Altar, Party, Familien, Zusammenwohnen, Dinner, Bindungszeremonien und Sexualberatung). Für alle, die wie ich süchtig vor dem Fernseher kleben, hier ein Update zu allen Paaren, die heute noch zusammen sind.

On June 14, 2024, their daughter Chloe Rossi Balbuziente was born. Together with their dog Enzo, they moved to Brisbane. Für mich war es nicht das spannendste Paar, aber in Australien sind sie sehr beliebt: Mit 50.000 Followern auf TikTok schauen viele ihre Videos (Urlaub auf Bali) und Familienausflüge, was zeigt, dass ihre Beziehung kein Experiment mehr ist, sondern echte Liebe. Das Tollste: Billy zeigt seine Bindung zu seinem Sohn Landon. Tschüss Adrian & Shierhah. Elliot & Jamie (S12) Whoop Whoop: Neue Romanze! Elliot & Jamie sind seit Kurzem ein Paar. Beim Junggesellenabschied dachte ich echt, Jamie ist nichts für mich. Was für ein lauter Tölpel. Aber er erwies sich als einer der nettesten, ehrlichsten und aufrichtigsten Teilnehmer des Jahres. Jamie, gematcht mit Dave, schien ein Traumpaar. Doch Dave drehte sich schnell um wie ein Blatt im Wind. Elliot wurde mit zwei Verrückten gematcht. Anfangs dachte ich, das liegt an ihm, doch später zeigte sich, dass er wirklich ein toller Mensch ist – innen und außen. Dass diese beiden zusammen sind, finde ich so toll. Ob es ganz offiziell ist, weiß ich nicht, aber ich hoffe und glaube fest daran, dass sie für immer zusammenbleiben.

Since 2019, I have been totally addicted to Married at First Sight Australia. So much so that I eagerly await the new year when a new season begins. MAFS Australia is entertaining, beautiful, over-the-top, and mega juicy. Honestly, I am envious if you are thinking right now: Oh, I've never seen it. Then you have so many great seasons to binge-watch. From season 5 onwards, the format was adjusted so that from then on, the best series emerged (think altar, parties, families, moving in together, dinners, commitment ceremonies, and sexual counseling). For all those who, like me, were addicted to the TV, here’s an update on all the couples who are still together today. MAFS Australia: The couples who made it Erin & Bryce (S2) The longest-standing MAFS couple. Together since 2016. Low profile, high love. Erin & Bryce consciously keep their relationship out of the spotlight, avoid much social media, and claim that this helps their success. Jules & Cam (S6) The probably most famous MAFS couple of all time. They are likable, lovable, friendly, and humble. Everyone wishes for a fairy tale like Jules & Cam. In 2019, Jules & Cam got married privately, without cameras and cast colleagues. In 2020, their first child, son Oliver, was born, and in 2024, their second son Carter was born. Jules & Cam are proof that a MAFS match can work not only in the reality show – but also in real life. Love, growth, real life with ups and downs. Their story is one of the most credible success stories in the MAFS universe. Thanks to their popularity, Jules & Cam have become real celebrities. They are often invited to red carpets and charity events. Jules launched her own shapewear line, Figur, which focuses on inclusive sizes and body positivity, became the face of several beauty brands, and collaborates with brands like Olay. Sinds 2019 ben ik volledig verslaafd aan Married at First Sight Australia. Zozeer dat ik vol verwachting uitkijk naar het nieuwe jaar voor een nieuw seizoen. MAFS Australia is leuk, mooi, over de top en super sappig. Ik ben oprecht jaloers als je nu denkt: huh, nog nooit gezien. Dan heb je zoveel geweldige seizoenen om te binge-watchen. Vanaf seizoen 5 werd het format aangepast om de meest heerlijke serie te creëren (denk aan altaar, feesten, families, samenwonen, diners, verbintenisceremonies en seksuele adviezen). Voor iedereen die, net als ik, aan de TV gekluisterd zat als een verslaafde, hier is een update over alle koppels die vandaag de dag nog samen zijn. MAFS Australia: De koppels die het hebben gemaakt Erin & Bryce (S2) Het langst samenblijvende MAFS-koppel. Samen sinds 2016. Laag profiel, hoge liefde. Erin & Bryce houden hun relatie bewust uit de schijnwerpers, vermijden veel sociale media en zeggen dat dit hun succes helpt. Jules & Cam (S6) Dit is het meest gevierde MAFS-koppel ooit. Ze zijn leuk, lief, vriendelijk en bescheiden. Iedereen verlangt naar een sprookje zoals Jules & Cam. In 2019 trouwden Jules & Cam echt — zonder camera's en mede-castleden. Elliot & Jamie zijn recent een stel geworden. Tijdens het vrijgezellenfeest dacht ik echt, ik kan Jamie niet uitstaan. Wat een luidruchtig, redneck type. Maar hij bleek een van de aardigste, eerlijkste en oprechtste deelnemers van het jaar te zijn. Jamie, gekoppeld aan Dave, leek een droomkoppel. Maar helaas, Dave flipte als een blad in de wind. Elliot werd gekoppeld aan twee gekken. Hoewel ik aanvankelijk dacht dat het zijn schuld was, bewees hij later een prachtig persoon van binnen en van buiten te zijn. Ik hou er echt van dat deze twee samen zijn. Of het officieel is, betwijfel ik, maar voor nu ga ik gewoon hard geloven en hopen dat ze voor altijd samen blijven. MAFS Australia: Deze koppels zijn uit elkaar Jack & Tori (S11) Gescheiden sinds maart 2025. Een ongewoon koppel. Jack is echt een pijn. Tori is lief. Soms dacht ik dat haar blik leek op die van Diana toen ze van onderaf omhoog keek. Vaak zat ik voor de TV te denken: Ren Tori. Ren. Maar nee, ze bleef. Sterker nog, ze verhuisde naar de Gold Coast voor Jack en woont daar nog steeds. Ze zeggen dat ze geen ruzies of drama hebben. Ze zijn als vrienden uit elkaar gegaan en zijn nog steeds sportmaatjes.
