For true crime fans, there’s something endlessly fascinating about serial killers—though it still feels a bit strange to call it a fascination. Still, one of the reasons documentaries are so interesting is because we just can’t grasp how someone could do something so horrific. We’ll probably never fully understand, but that doesn’t stop us from looking for clues. Could someone’s zodiac sign, for instance, be an indicator? The Killer.Cloud database compiled a list based on 488 known serial killers. Who knows, it might come in handy one day.Capricorn Firmly in first place: Capricorn. Although this might not be something to be proud of on this particular list. A total of 55 serial killers share this zodiac sign, perhaps the most infamous being “The Freeway Killer.” Between May 1979 and June 1980, William Bonin murdered at least 21 people, though he was suspected of 36 murders. These killers typically followed a ritualistic method with their victims, often involving strangulation. A possible explanation for the high number: Capricorns’ need for control and goal-oriented behavior. But of course, many more factors are at play. Leo Just below the Capricorns, with a difference of nine, are the Leos—with a total of 46 murderers on the list. In terms of numbers, this sign takes second place, but in terms of brutality, they might very well come first. Rape and sexual torture were often part of their crimes. Dominance plays an important role here too; their charm allows Leos to win over their victims. With names like The Blood Countess, The Railroad Killer, and Monster Killer, you know caution is warranted. Scorpio and Sagittarius As a Sagittarius myself, I was hoping to be lower on the list, but we’ve landed in third place. Tied with Scorpio, but still. Both come in with 43 killers, including names like Ted Bundy, The Torso Killer, The ABC Killer, and The Vampire of Hannover. Sagittarius killers can be just as brutal as Leos. Rape and strangulation were common. Sometimes they even went a step further, performing sexual acts post-mortem or keeping body parts as “trophies.” Scorpios went just as far; before committing murder, their crimes were often preceded by periods of rape and stalking. Truly horrific. Aquarius, Aries, and Libra The difference is minimal, as Aquarius, Aries, and Libra each account for 42 murderers. Their crimes don’t differ much in intensity either. Torture, rape, and necrophilia were also found among Aquarian killers like the Green River Killer. They often targeted specific victims: homeless people, sex workers, or runaways. With Libras, you might not expect it, but these murderers were extremely violent as well. They too engaged in torture, strangulation, and collecting mementos. Perhaps they were a bit more meticulous, but just as brutal. The most unpredictable of the three is Aries. These killers didn’t really follow a set pattern. Often, it wasn’t about who was murdered or how, but how many. The more, the better. That lines up with Aries’ competitive nature and impulsive behavior—though of course, that’s no excuse.Pisces and Gemini Just a little lower on the list are Pisces and Gemini. Both tally up 40 known serial killers. What sets Gemini murderers apart is that they often knew their victims or had some kind of connection to them. Whether family members or neighbors, there was a link. It’s almost more the rule than the exception, but these murders were still brutal. Strangulation, binding of bodies, or even cannibalism occurred—like in the case of Jeffrey Dahmer. Pisces killers are equally ruthless. They often present themselves as charming, only to strike in the same brutal ways as Geminis. The difference: their victims are often selected based on age—either minors or the elderly. In the case of John Wayne Gacy, “The Killer Clown,” all of his victims were between the ages of 14 and 21. Virgo Virgos are known for being meticulous and perfectionistic, and that was definitely true for these 39 killers. Many of them committed robbery first, before moving on to murder. It was also common for them to work in the medical field, poisoning their victims during their job or surgically removing body parts. Crimes like those of the “Angel of Death” were carefully planned—and that’s what made them so cruel.Cancer Before the 34 serial killers with the Cancer zodiac sign committed murder, most were involved in gambling, theft, assault, or rape. In some cases, sex slaves were involved, and victims were murdered by strangling, shooting, or in one case, drowning. The trigger was often a form of blackmail or betrayal—though the exact "why" remains a mystery.Taurus At the very bottom of the list is Taurus, with “only” 22 killers. Still a lot, of course, but compared to the rest, the best score. What sets them apart from the other signs is that Taurus killers often stalked their victims first—on trails, in parks, or in the mountains—before resorting to strangulation, weapons, or cannibalism. The number may be lower, but the crimes were no less brutal. Some zodiac signs appear more frequently than others, but that doesn’t mean you should sound the alarm when you meet someone with one of them. Many other factors are involved. In that sense, these kinds of killers remain highly unpredictable.Source: Thought CatalogBy Maartje Beks
The best road trips in Spain: these are the routes you’ll want to drive in 2025 Picture this: a road trip through the most beautiful spots in Spain. A shining sun, windows down, your favorite playlist, and that stunning landscape—who wouldn’t want that? We all do, right? Well, I have good news: Spain seems made for road trips. From Andalusia to the Costa Brava, you’ll find unique routes all over the country. Let’s take a look at some of the most beautiful ones. So, seatbelts on, and vamos. The ultimate road trip route along the Costa Brava With about 246 kilometers, you’ll want to allocate a few days for this route along the Costa Brava, but trust me, it’s worth it. We’ll start just below this famous coast, in Barcelona. A mini city trip before hitting the road is always a great idea. After exploring the big city, the first stop is Sant Feliu de Guíxols, a seaside town known for its numerous viewpoints offering the best views over the landscape. If you veer off the coastline, you can make a stop in the city of Girona, where you definitely shouldn’t miss the iconic cathedral and the Arab baths. El Celler de Can Roca restaurant is also a must-try, but make sure to book months in advance. The next part of the route is a must-visit for art lovers: the Dalinian Triangle. In the three villages of Figueres, Portlligat, and Púbol, you can discover everything about the Spanish painter Dalí, including the houses where he once lived. To make the most of the trip, the route ends in Cadaqués. This small fishing village inspired many artists, so who knows what creative ideas you’ll return home with. The most beautiful road trip through Andalusia: from Malaga to Sevilla When you say Spain, you say Costa del Sol. That’s also where the ideal Andalusian adventure begins. The exact starting point: Malaga. From my own experience, I can say it's a beautiful city. Plan your trip for mid-August if you can; if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to experience the Feria de Málaga, a traditional celebration that’s a unique experience. Now, back to the route. It heads inland, where you must stop in Granada to visit the Alhambra, the old palace and citadel of the Nasrid dynasty. Be sure to book your tickets in advance; while the palace is stunning from the outside, it’s even better to peek inside. Continuing through Córdoba, the route leads to the Andalusian capital: Sevilla. This city offers a thousand things to see, and in between, you can enjoy some real tapas. What more could you want? Discover Northern Spain with a road trip Now, moving from the south of Spain, let’s head all the way to the north. While it rains a bit more here than in other parts of the country, this has its advantages. The landscapes are greener, and during a shower, you’ll be nice and dry in the car. A perfect starting point for discovering this part of Spain is San Sebastián. This coastal city is a must for foodies, as it boasts the highest number of Michelin-starred restaurants per square meter in Europe. The next stop will delight my fellow TV series fans. On the northern coast lies the island of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones. Amidst the large rocks, you’ll feel like you’re in the series. Back on the route, you’ll come across Playa del Sardinero, Santander, the Picos de Europa mountains, and Oviedo. Together, these stops form the perfect combination of nature, beaches, and charming old cities. To wrap up the road trip in a truly special way, you can also walk a part of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Naturally, that part should be done on foot. Road tripping in Castilla y León: the perfect route We can’t skip the heart of Spain either. The best way to explore this area is with a route from Madrid to Salamanca. Just like Barcelona, you can start your vacation a little earlier with a mini city trip to Madrid. After exploring the capital, it’s finally time to begin the route. The first stop is Segovia, a city known for its Roman aqueduct, Gothic cathedral, and the 12th-century Alcázar of Segovia castle. The next stop takes you deeper into Spain’s history. In the city of Ávila, you’ll find the most Gothic and Romanesque churches in the whole country. For perfect vacation photos, head to the last stop. The university town of Salamanca is also called the Golden City. This is because the honey-colored sandstone walls light up in golden hues later in the day. It’s one giant golden hour. Ibiza by car: the most beautiful route on the island Now that we’ve covered most of Spain, Ibiza, of course, shouldn’t be missed. With a car, you can perfectly explore the island, and you’ll discover that there’s much more to it than the parties at Ushuaïa. To catch a bit of the glamour, start the route from Ibiza town to Ses Salines beach. While enjoying a cocktail, you might even spot a celeb. A bit more peace and quiet can be found when you drive further to Sa Caleta. This beach is hidden among impressive red cliffs, and you can enjoy delicious food at the traditional seafood restaurants. Another totally different experience awaits you at Cala d'Hort. From here, you’ll see the mystical island of Es Vedrà rise above the sea. This spot has been known for UFO sightings and other extraordinary things, but even without that, it’s a unique view to end your trip.Source: Lonely PlanetBy Maartje Beks
Sometimes scrolling through all the streaming services takes almost longer than the movie you end up watching. So good tips are always welcome. What might be just as nice is knowing what you absolutely should not watch. Don’t get me wrong, I really love Christmas movies. But sometimes, there are titles that even turn me into a bit of a Grinch. To spare you that feeling, I’ve gathered some films that you can immediately cross off your watchlist.A Paris Christmas Waltz (Netflix) In *A Paris Christmas Waltz*, Emma (Jen Lilley) is deeply moved when she sees professional dancer Leo (Matthew Morrison) perform. A year later, when they both happen to be in Paris, they decide to participate in a dance competition together. Despite Leo insisting he never dates dance partners, he makes quite the effort to charm Emma. The film just landed on Netflix, but it’s already being overshadowed by all the other Christmas titles. The reactions so far are not particularly positive, and the Rotten Tomatoes score is a failing 53%. While Christmas films are allowed to be a bit cliché, there’s a limit. *A Paris Christmas Waltz* has just too many "yeah, sure" moments.Christmas Cookies (Videoland) Hallmark films are known for being a bit cheesy, and *Christmas Cookies* is certainly no exception. Businesswoman Hannah (Jill Wagner) is sent to a small town to close down the local cookie factory. This ‘simple’ task becomes more complicated when she finds out that the owner of the factory is secretly quite attractive. The Christmas magic works its magic and Hannah is completely enchanted. One review of this film sums it up perfectly: You hadn’t seen this movie yet, but you’ve already seen it. Too predictable once again.Best. Christmas. Ever! (Netflix) Don’t let the title mislead you, because this Christmas film is not exactly ‘best’. Charlotte (Heather Graham) gets irritated every year by her friend Jackie (Brandy Norwood), who sends out a boastful holiday letter. When their families are forced to spend the holidays together, Charlotte goes out of her way to prove that Jackie’s life is not as perfect as she says. She goes so far that the whole holiday risks falling apart. The two friends will have to work together to save the day. The longer you watch, the more you wonder: what’s actually going on? A Christmas film doesn’t always have to make sense, but when you can’t follow it at all, the fun fades pretty quickly.I Believe in Santa (Netflix) The fact that the holidays can put a lot of pressure on your relationship is no secret. What the exact reason is varies from couple to couple. In *I Believe in Santa*, they’ve found a rather creative reason. Journalist Lisa (Christina Moore) meets lawyer Tom (John Ducey) during American Independence Day. Sparks fly and the two start a relationship. There seems to be no problem until Christmas comes around. What’s the big issue? Lisa has no interest in the holidays, while Tom loves them, and worse yet: he still believes in Santa Claus. For Lisa, that’s a bit of a red flag. The question is whether she can get past it. Well, you can only make such a big deal about something so small.A Christmas to Remember (Prime Video) Television chef Jennifer (Mira Sorvino) needs some rest after the stressful period around her Christmas special. On her way to a small village in the mountains, she gets into a car accident and ends up off the road in a snowstorm. When she wakes up, she has no memory of who she is. A passerby, John (Cameron Mathison), takes her to his house so she can recover. This already raises the first questions: why don’t you need to go to the hospital after a serious accident? Well, we’ll just accept this romantic gesture. As Jennifer slowly regains her memory, she comes to a not-so-surprising conclusion: her ‘new life’ with John is far more enjoyable than where she came from. Did the Christmas spirit have something to do with this decision? This is definitely a film to forget.By Maartje Beks
